People in Patna at Kargil Chowk on Wednesday burnt the effigy of Maharashtra's two rogue Pied Pipers – Bal and Raj Thackeray - who continued their harangue against Biharis by calling them 'an unwanted group that deserves to be kicked out of other states'.
Angered by his latest insult hurled against the entire state of Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) activists burnt the effigy of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray who, along with his nephew and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Raj Thackeray, has come to believe that Maharashtra was the Thackerays' personal fiefdom and anyone who did not speak Marathi did not deserve a place in the land of Shivaji, Baba Amte, and Lata Mangeshkar.
Calling him senile and a lunatic, the protestors said that the senior Thackeray had completely lost his marbles and needed to be immediately committed in a mental asylum before he got even more dangerous for the nation.
"The very name Thackeray has become synonymous with names like Osama bin Laden, Hitler, and other world dictators. The Home Ministry must step in and order arrests of the self-declared owners of Maharashtra," the protestors said.
Meanwhile, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) activists in Patna took film star Salman Khan to task for coming out in support of separatist Raj Thackeray. Burning his pictures and vowing to never watch his films again or allow his films to run in Bihar, the protestors called for a complete ban on all Bollywood stars who were supporting either of the Thackerays.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, apparently perturbed by the recent development in Maharashtra, appealed to the Prime Minister to call for an all-party meet to discuss atrocities committed on Biharis in Maharashtra while also demanding official condemnation of the two extremists who are 'bent to destroy the communal fiber of the Indian society'.
"If Manmohan Singh fails to intervene in what is happening in Maharashtra, it would mean only one thing – he is not interested in resolving the issue and that would not be good for the leader of the nation," Kumar said during a press report at Patna Airport.
Bal Thackeray's latest tirade did not go unnoticed in the Lok Sabha where RJD and Janata Dal (U) leaders disrupted the proceedings demanding immediate arrests of the Thackerays saying the Constitution did not give right to anyone to insult an entire state.
Meanwhile, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and former BJP leader Uma Bharti pledged to celebrate Chhath, a quintessential Bihar festival, in Mumbai daring the extremists to stop them from observing the festival.
