Lohia's Statue to be moved from GPO Roundabout to Kankarbagh
Patna: March 6, 2008
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, during his visit to the yet to be completed Lohia Park in Kankarbagh in Patna on Thursday, said the late Ram Manohar Lohia's life-size statue near the GPO roundabout would be shifted to the new park that would symbolize the immense sacrifice and work of the socialist leader.
The state would organize a function on March 23 to mark the birth anniversary of Lohia and the statue would be moved to its new place by then, the Chief Minister said while directing the Building Construction secretary Arun Kumar Sinha to ensure the park project is completed on schedule.
The construction of a flyover near the GPO roundabout has necessitated the move for the shifting of Lohia statue, officials said.
Kumar also visited the park in the G-Sector that is being built in memory of his late wife Manju Sinha who died last year after developing pneumonia in her chest.
Later he also visited his in-laws house in Kankarbagh and his ailing mother at the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH).
State Janata Dal (U) president Lallan Singh, legislator Gyanendra Singh 'Gyanu', and Patna District Magistrate Dr. B. Rajendra were also with the Chief Minister.
