RJD Leader Gunned Down in Masaurhi

Patna: March 7, 2008

Armed criminals in Masaurhi in Patna district on Friday shot and killed a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Mithilesh Yadav causing a widespread protest in the region as senior police officials rushed to the scene of crime to keep situation under control.

Yadav, 45, was at his home in Kharoj village when some men walked into the house and shot him from close range killing him on the spot.

Angry villagers then blocked the road and refused to hand over the dead body to the police until late Friday night.

Efforts are on to nab the killers, Masaurhi DSP Sushil Kumar said.

Old enmity is said to be the cause of his murder, reports said.
