Mock Trial Gives Death Penalties to the Thackerays
Patna: March 8, 2008
The women of Rashtriya Mahila Brigade in Patna on Saturday held a mock trial of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh and awarded death penalties to them for their anti-Bihar rhetoric and atrocities being committed by them in Maharashtra.
Citing various passages from the Constitution and Indian Penal Code, the women declared the uncle-nephew duo and the Maharashtra Chief Minister traitors and gave them death by hanging.
After the 'verdict', the women then hung the effigies of the Thackerays and Deshmukh saying the nation was a much better place now that the three were gone.
Giving an ultimatum to the Congress-led UPA government at the Center, the women said the government had till 14th April to take actions against the Thackerays failing which they would launch a nationwide agitation to demand for the removal of the Central government.
"More than 50,000 women from Bihar would go to Mumbai this year and celebrate Chhath at the beaches. We dare the Thackerays to stop us from doing so," the women said.
