Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, at the gathering of 'Umang', a public meeting organized jointly by the state Education and Human Resources Department at Patna's Gandhi Maidan on Saturday to mark the International Women's Day, said that with hope and enthusiasm, even big mountains could be moved and that is the kind of attitude he expected from Bihar's youths.
"Those who did not believe in hope till just few months ago are now talking about future and development. With such outlook, no one could stop Bihar from developing now," the Chief Minister said.
Speaking on the condition of women in India, Kumar said no nation could think of developing without equal participation by the women. "We have taken several steps to ensure women empowerment in Bihar but our mission will not be completed until we have ensured all girls are not treated as second class citizens and have equal say on all issues," Kumar said.
The Chief Minister also talked about atrocities being committed on Biharis in Maharashtra and elsewhere and said the only way to stop such humiliation was to make Bihar so strong in economic terms that people from other states would come to Bihar instead of the other way round.
The event was also attended by Welfare Minister Rameshwar Paswan, Human Resources Minister Brishan Patel, Panchayati Raj Minister Narendra Narayan Yadav, legislator Poonam Devi and a number of other Bihar politicians.
