Dagmara Hydel Project Gets Help from Canadian Expert

Patna: March 17, 2008

Canadian hydro-electric consultant Wilford Brown arrived in Patna on Monday to provide his invaluable expertise in setting up Dagmara Hydroelectric Project that is said to be a modern, scientific marvel even by western standard, officials in Patna said.

Brown who held a high-level meeting with the representatives of Bihar State Hydro-electric Corporation, ILFS, and WAPCOS, will leave for the Dagmara project site on Tuesday.

The state government last September reached an agreement with the leading hydro-electric engineering company WAPCOS to develop the Dagmara hydel project in the Kosi region with a total capacity of producing 126 MW of electricity.

Located at the foothill of Kosi Barrage, Dagmara is capable of producing 46 MW of power.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.
