Patna: March 18, 2008
Despite constant disruption and walk-outs by the opposition leaders in Bihar Assembly on Tuesday, the state government, much to the chagrin of its opponents, passed the Rs. 381.4 crore budget for industrial development in the state.
Talking to the media persons, state Industrial Minister Gautam Singh said the government had assembled a board for the industrial development in the state and has okayed investment proposals in excess of Rs. 40,000 crores.
"The board will be entrusted to attract investment on public-partnership basis to improve the industrial scenario of the state that was left with nothing after its bifurcation and birth of Jharkhand state eight years ago," the minister said.
Singh further said that the state government was working on a plan with the aid of the Central government to develop an inland container depot to boost export from the state.
The scheme would be developed at the cost of Rs. 2, 342 lakh, he said.
