Holi came a couple of days early at Bihar Assembly when leaders from various parties on Wednesday, momentarily forgetting their notorious political enmity, applied colored powder to each other though Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stayed away from the fun and frolic in respect of his wife who died of chest complications at a Delhi hospital less than a year ago on May 14, 2007.
Kumar, however, distributed sweets to all ministers and legislators saying Holi was a festival of goodwill and it comes as a reprieve from the day-to-day politics that are part and parcel of any political establishment.
The newly-elected members of the Legislative Council including Heera Bind, Ramdhani Singh, Haroon Rashid, Satish Kumar, Giriraj Singh, Kameshwar Choupal, Badshah Prasad Azaad, Tanweer Hassan, and Dr. Jyoti played Holi with their supporters near the Shaheed Smarak.
Meanwhile, the BJP leader and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad organized a Holi gathering of his own at the Children's Park in Sri Krishna Puri where other party leaders including Prem Kumar, Janardan Singh Sigriwal, and Bihar Governor R. S. Gavai also took party in the festivity.
