With iftaar parties now a bona fide political tool to display one's somewhat false secularism, suddenly there is a race for one-upmanship in the Bihar's political corridor in respect to the Holi festival as more and more politicians with an eye on their future are organizing 'bigger and better' Holi parties to show off their love for the ordinary people.
After that 'Rang Barse Bheege Chunaria' scene at the Bihar Vidhan Sabha a few days ago followed by equally enthusiastic gathering organized by the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Central Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad at the Children's Park in Sri Krishna Puri, it was the turn of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party spokesperson Shyam Rajak who got down and dirty with his fellow politicians on Thursday to show his love for Holi.
Rajak's party got the official stamp of approval by the arrival of chief guests and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi none too soon after a Patna High Court upheld a petition by the Nitish government to reopen Disproportionate Assets case against the former first couple of Bihar.
With traditional Holi songs from Hindi films playing in the background, Rajak greeted each and every guests, including some stars of Bhojpuri films, and personally ensured no one left without color on their bodies or scrumptious food in their tummies.
Wishing everyone a happy and peaceful Holi, Rajak emphasized the importance of the festival saying it was a perfect occasion to renew friendship and strengthen relationship.
Meanwhile, Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has been known for his infamous 'Kurta Phaad' Holi at his residence, announced his decision to keep the party sober this year.
Politicians are still waiting for invitation from other Big Kahunas in the game including the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan, Congress state president Sadanand Singh, and a few others.
