Bihar Recommends CBI Probe in Shahnaz's Son Suicide Case

Patna: March 28, 2008

The state government on Friday recommended a CBI probe into the suicide death of Sameer, the son of famous beautician Shahnaz Hussain who earlier this week met with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar demanding justice in the case.

Welcoming the government's move, Sameer's widow Rabiya Hussain, echoing her mother's sentiments, blamed Shahnaz for her son's death.

"He (Sameer) was disenfranchised by his own mother following her second marriage. This pushed him to the brink of suicide. Several months after his death, my mother-in-law suddenly remembers her son and comes to Patna to pray for my husband but the way she was dressed like a film star during her recent visit to Patna, it was apparent that she was least bit bothered by Sameer's death and the whole thing was nothing but good bit of acting on her part," said Rabia Hussain.

32-year old Sameer died on January 6 this year after falling, intentionally or accidentally, from the balcony of the third floor apartment of his father-in-law Mahfooz Ahmed in Patna.
