Amit Kumar Patna's New SSP; Reshuffle Continues
Patna: March 29, 2008
Close at the heels of March 16 reshuffle of the state administration, the Nitish government on Saturday ordered restructuring of its bureaucracy once again by transferring 31 IPS officers, including Superintendents of Police (SPs) of 21 districts.
While Patna's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kundan Krishnan was replaced by Nalanda SP Amit Kumar, Krishnan was sent to Bhagalpur in his old capacity.
SPs of Gaya, Jehanabad, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia, Sitamarhi, Rohtas, Bhojpur, Siwan, East and West Champaran, Gopalganj, Kishanganj, Araria, Buxar, Khagaria, and Banka were also transferred in what appears to be a move to prepare for an earlier Lok Sabha polls.
Ratn Sanjay, the high-profile SP who dared to take on the 'king of Siwan' Mohammed Shahabuddin head on a few years ago was sent to the CBI on Central deputation. His position as Muzaffarpur SP was filled in by Purnia SP Sudhanshu Kumar.
While three senior IPS officers, A. R. Ambedkar, B. Srinivasan and K. K. Verma, were promoted to the rank of DIG, state Crime Record Bureau DIG Gupteshwar Pandey was made DIG (security) in the special branch.
