Former IMA President Escapes Abduction Attempt

Noted urologist and former President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Dr. Ajay Kumar on Monday night foiled a bid of his abduction after he managed to drive his vehicle into a crowded market forcing his would-be kidnappers to retreat and escape.
The incident occurred between Bailey Road and Raja Bazaar as Dr. Kumar returned to his home in his Scorpio after attending a send-off party to former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kundan Krishnan.
In a report filed with the Shastrinagar police station, Dr. Kumar said he was returning to his home in Ashiana Nagar at around 10:00 pm when some people in an Ambassador car started to follow him on Bailey Road.
When Dr. Kumar reached Raja Bazaar area, the men in the car forced him to pull over and attacked his car with a stick. However, as a crowd started to convene, the criminals got back in their car and escaped.
The physician who is well-known within the law-enforcement circle informed Patna IG and the DSP (Law and Order).
The police later took one Anil Rai and his driver Ravindra Kumar in custody from near the Veterinary College, Sachivalaya DSP Sridhar Mandal said. An Ambassador car with a thick wooden stick was also recovered from the vehicle, said the DSP.
The two men are being questioned by the police.
