Tantia Constructions Shown the Door for Poor Performance

Patna: May 2, 2008

The state government, in an indictment of the shoddy and slow pace of work by the Tantia Constructions Limited engaged in building roads in Bihar, withdrew the Rs. 157 crore contract from the company saying it had miserably failed in keeping its commitment and new tenders would be floated to hand over the job to some other company.

The Chief Engineer of the Road Construction Department K. R. Sinha said the Tantia Constructions had been able to finish building only five roads out of 19 in Patna in a period of 21 months.

"Based on the evaluation of the Tantia Constructions' performance over the past 21 months, it has been decided that the state would re-issue tender for road buildings in Patna and would give the contract to some other company," said Sinha adding the government would also evaluate the works already done by the outgoing company to analyze its worthiness.

A copy of the government's decision was mailed to the Tantia Constructions on Friday, officials said.
