Communists Observe Karl Marx's Birthday
Patna: May 5, 2008
Clinging hard to the Marxist dogmas and doctrines, the members of the Communist Party of India (CPI) in Patna on Monday observed the 189th birth anniversary of German political economist Karl Marx insisting Marxism was more relevant today than any other time and must be used to bridge economic disparity in the nation.
"Millions of people in India are dying of hunger, unemployment, and living in abject poverty and only by adopting complete Marxism, we would be able to score a victory over these social ills," party district committee secretary Brijnandan Singh said in the meeting.
Other Marxist leaders talked about the initial struggle of Marx and how he gave new directions to the struggling working class by giving them a voice in the social and economic setup.
"By bringing an end to private ownership and establishing a welfare state, a nation could hope to bring parity between the haves and the have-nots," said yet another Communist leader Shivshankar Sharma.
