RJD Ladies Burn the Effigy of Raj Thackeray
Patna: May 6, 2008
The women wing of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in Patna on Tuesday took out a mock funeral of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) separatist leader Raj Thackeray for his ever-growing anti-north Indian rhetoric that has turned him into a political pariah even in his own home state where several leaders have been demanding his immediate arrest.
Carrying Thackeray's make-believe 'dead body', the women chanted death to the MNS leader and appealed to the Maharashtra Chief Minister and the Prime Minister of India to quickly intervene and put a stop to his anti-national tirade before a civil war like situation takes place in the country.
"Thackeray is an enemy of the nation and must be treated as such. The government must arrest him without delay before he further divides the nation based on his parochial and petty regional politics," Asha Devi, one of the protestors said.
Thackeray's yet another inflammatory speech that he made in Mumbai last weekend is being studied by the Mumbai police and could be arrested in next few days, sources said.
