CM Inaugurates First Bihar Science Conference

Photo by Shashi Uttam.Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while inaugurating the two-day First Bihar Science Conference at Patna Science College sponsored by the Bihar Brains Scholastic Center on Wednesday, said that students of Bihar were the best in the nation and would play a huge role in the rebuilding of Bihar.

"During a visit of the former President of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, we had promised to develop Bihar by 2020. However, now we are shooting for 2015 because we believe with the help of able scientists, teachers, and other professionals, we can expedite the development process by at least 5 years," the Chief Minister said.

Kumar also repeated his pledge to put more pressure on the UPA government to accord Central University status to Patna University saying if there was one university that truly deserved that status, it had to be Patna University.

Photo by Shashi Uttam.Hoping to turn Patna into the Bangalore of the east, the Chief Minister said Patna would be developed as the call center hub and the government was willing to provide all kinds of helps and assistance to achieve this dream.

An alumnus of Patna Science College himself, Kumar fondly remembered his ecstasy after being admitted in this college. "I did not get that exhilarating feeling even after becoming the Chief Minister of Bihar," he said.

Scientists and teachers from many countries took part in the opening day of the conference prominent among them the science and technology adviser to the Prime Minister and Hyderabad University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S. E. Hasnain, Patna University proctor Prof. I. Ahsan, Science College principal Prof. S. N. Guha, Bihar Brains chairperson Bibhuti Bikramaditya, Magadh Mahila College professor Dolly Sinha, IIT Mumbai HOD Chemistry Prof. M. K. Mishra, Oxford University professor Ashish Kumar, Leeds University professor Animesh Jha, Patna University physics professor Dr. Rajmani Prasad, Jainendra Kumar, and Professor Dharm Prakash.
