CBI Team in Patna to Investigate Akaash Abduction Case

A special team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrived in Patna on Thursday to probe the much-agonizing Akaash abduction case and met with top state police officials to collect information and facts while hoping to bring the case to a happy ending.

As reported, the Nitish administration earlier recommended a CBI enquiry into the case that had gotten cold over last several months.

Additional Director General D. N. Gautam, while declining to comment on the context of the CBI meeting, said he was hopeful of a positive ending to the case and was looking forward to the day when the boy was united with his family.

Akaash, a class VII student of Dayanand Anglo Vedic (DAV) School who was abducted by unidentified criminals under Shastri Nagar police station in Patna on August 10 last year.

On April 21 this year, Yogendra Pandey, the father of Akaash, found a ransom note at the door demanding Rs. 10 lakh in exchange for the boy's freedom.
