Students Burn Effigy of Arjun Singh on IIT Fee Issue. Photo by Anupam SinghPatna University students with allegiance to Janata Dal (U) on Saturday burnt the effigy of Union Human Resources Minister Arjun Singh to protest against rise in the tuition of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

Chanting anti-Singh slogans, the students protesting at the gate of Patna University office said by doubling the fee the government was making it very difficult for IIT aspirants from Bihar who do not come from affluent families.

The students demanded quick intervention by the Prime Minister in bringing the tuition back to the previous level saying the new fee was bound to hurt students from Bihar while giving an unfair edge to those who can afford to pay the new fee schedule.

The protest was organized and led by Students JD-U national secretary Bhupendra Kumar and state general secretary Rakesh Kumar Yadav.
