Kanti Singh lashes out at Bihar Government
Patna: May 10, 2008
Union Cultural and Tourism Minister Kanti Singh, while presiding over a meeting of district readiness and vigilance committee at Patna Collectorate on Saturday, blamed the state government and bureaucrats for showing no interest in central programs and schemes leading to slow development in the state.
"On one hand the central government is sending several crore rupees to the state under the Job Guarantee Scheme and on the other, the state government is not able to implement the scheme as anticipated," Kanti Singh, a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader, said.
The Union Minister also chastised the Nitish government for failing to bring changes in the BPL list and in the implementation of the Indira Awaas Yojana for people living below the poverty line.
Directing the BDOs to go to rural areas to spread awareness about various central schemes, the minister took the District Magistrate Jitendra Kumar Sinha to task for failing to apprise the villagers of their rights and eligibility for government plans.
The meeting was also attended by other leaders including Ram Kripal Yadav, Shyam Rajak, Poonam Devi, Arun Kumar Sinha, and Gyanendra Singh Gyanu.
