Minister Takes Credit for Good Governance in Bihar
Patna: May 13, 2008
Food and Consumer Protection minister Narendra Singh, while holding a meeting at Patna Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, went on a rant that included his own desire to become 'Chanakya' after he realized that 'he could not become Chandragupta because he was born in a higher caste'.
Singh, hopping almost aimlessly from one topic to another in a matter of few minutes, said he had hoped to become the Chanakya of the modern politics by first 'rolling his dice' on Ram Vilas Paswan but when that failed he gambled on Nitish Kumar and gave him the role of Chanakya that resulted in the good governance in the state.
The Minister then lamented the 'demise' of democratic principles within all political parties.
"Politicians are spending too much time and energy in maintaining their power and position while lacking the basic leadership qualities. This is not good for the state or the nation," he said.
Singh also praised Bihar businessmen for not engaging in corrupt practices like black-marketing or hoarding and pledged to provide them full support in expanding their trades.
