Hardware Shop Owner Shot Dead in Indira Nagar

Patna: May 14, 2008

Emboldened criminals in Patna under Jakkanpur police station on Wednesday night shot and killed a hardware store owner allegedly due to business rivalry, officials in Patna said.

The youth was identified as 18 year old Shashi Ranjan was 18 years old.

As reported, the victim was going to his home after closing the shop near Chiraiyantand Bridge at around 9:00 pm when a boy working at a tea shop approached him and told him some men wanted to have a talk with him.

Shashi Ranjan was then escorted by some men who took him to the Road Number 4 of Indira Nagar where they shot him three times in his head killing him instantly.

People in the neighborhood, after hearing gunshots, informed the police but by the time they arrived at the crime scene, the criminals were long gone.

The police have taken the boy working at the tea shop in custody in an effort to identify the killers, City Superintendent of Police (SP) Anwar Hussain said.
