Suraj Narayan Singh Birth Anniversary Observed

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna on Saturday paid his respect to martyr Suraj Narayan Singh to mark his 102nd birth anniversary saying Singh, besides making invaluable contributions in the freedom struggle against the British, opposed the caste divide and the zamindari system in the contemporary Indian social and political structure.
"Suraj Babu was a symbol of freedom from feudal rule and a beacon of hope that he exemplified by living a very principled life indicating how ahead was he of his time," said the Chief Minister at the Suraj Narayan Singh Memorial on Birchand Patel Marg.
The state Art and Culture department had arranged for a 'bhajan' session that added to the solemn atmosphere of the event.
Several people including the children of Suraj Babu and District Magistrate Jitendra Kumar Sinha attended the function.
A similar event was organized at the Sinha Library that was inaugurated by Panchayati Raj Minister Bhola Prasad Singh.
Suraj Narayan Singh was born on May 17, 1906 in Narpati Nagar village in Madhubani district in Bihar. He died on April 15, 1973.
