Pot Calling the Kettle Black: CM to UPA Leaders
Patna: May 19, 2008
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, in the aftermath of the resignation of Transport Minister Ramanand Prasad Singh amidst allegations of corruption in a case going back nearly 18 years, said that the UPA Government should learn something from this incident as the Center was full of tainted ministers who were getting a free pass under the Manmohan administration.
"Politicians who are gunning for the NDA ministers in Bihar should first take a close look at themselves. It is not a secret what kind of politicians make the UPA government and it is rather hypocritical for them to talk about our ministers in Bihar in spite of the fact that we have taken steps against those who were involved in any kind of political or financial scandal," said the Chief Minister on Monday.
Speaking about the Singh controversy, Kumar said that the case was pending in the court and he would not comment on it until it was brought to a conclusion.
"The question that why did we not screen the leaders prior to including them in the Cabinet is not as much important as the fact that the minister himself took the high road and tendered his resignation to maintain the sanctity and integrity of the ministry," he said.
