NCC Cadets Donate Blood at AIDS Workshop in Patna

NCC Cadets Donate Blood.The Regional AIDS Training center and Network in India (RATNEI), a unit of International Health Organization (IHO), Boston (USA), in association with the NCC Bihar and Red Cross Society, Patna, organized one day HIV/AIDS awareness program for the NCC cadets from different schools and colleges at B N R Training Institute in Patna on Tuesday.

Dr Diwakar Tejaswi, Medical Director RATNEI, in his address, talked about the modes of HIV transmission, signs and symptoms of the disease and ways to avoid getting hit by it. He also stressed upon the ABC strategy in HIV infection prevention among the youths where A stands for Abstinence before marriage, B for Be faithful to your partner, and C for the use of Condom when required.

NCC Cadets Donate BloodA blood drive was also organized by the Red Cross Society in which a number of NCC girls voluntarily donated their blood.

More than 100 NCC girl cadets and their supervisors attended the event. Col. Rajesh Singh, Commanding Officer Dr. Binay Bahadur Sinha, and Dr. B. B. Verma from Red Cross Blood Bank were also present on the occasion.

Sinha, in his speech, thanks the girls for donating blood and said that no gift could be bigger or as valuable as the gift of blood and therefore the gift of life. He also emphasized the need for organizing more such drives to encourage blood donation in Bihar.
