Cop Suspended after Roughing up Minister's Daughter-in-Law
Patna: Oct. 6, 2008
Authorities in Patna on Monday put Virendra Giri, a traffic cop, on suspension on charges of misbehaving with the daughter-in-law of PHED Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey on Sunday evening on Frazer Road.
As reported, the incident took place near the Vishal Mega Mart where Giri allegedly manhandled Surabhi while her husband and Choubey's son Aviral Shaswat looked for a space to park his car.
The incident occurred at the time when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's motorcade was scheduled to pass from Frazer Road.
Giri, after launching a verbal attack on Surabhi, grabbed her arm and shoved her aside making her cry.
As a crowd gathered to save the damsel in trouble, other police officials on duty purportedly helped Giri escape from the scene, reports said.
Complaints were lodged by both parties even as the Bihar Policemen's Association on Monday demanded a probe into the incident.
