Patna: Oct. 7, 2008
The indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) and the American Organization for the Development of Bihar (AODB) would be holding a 'Bihar Relief Day' at the India Community Center in California on October 17 for the benefit of flood victims in Bihar; AODB representative Raj Dubey said at a press conference in Patna on Tuesday.
In a joint conference of the TIE and AODB at Hotel Maurya in Patna, noted film-maker Prakash Jha said that he, along with others, would participate in the charity drive in California to raise money for the millions of flood victims in Bihar.
He further said that he and his team would continue to work towards flood relief in coordination with the AODB and other Bihari organizations based outside the country.
Talking about his own project 'Punarwaas', Jha said that his goal was to rehabilitate at least a thousand families affected by this year's flood in north Bihar with the help of his other friends of the film industry.
"We also aim to provide employment and set up businesses to foster a healthy growth opportunity in the flood-hit areas of Bihar," the film-maker said adding his involvement in the relief work in the state was causing some delay in the production of his next movie 'Rajniti'.
Actress Neetu Chandra, Kalyanpur Cement General Manager S. P. Sinha, Bihar IT Association president P. K. Sinha, and Income Tax Commissioner Ujjwal Chowdhary were also present at the press conference.
A 15-minute documentary film on the Kosi devastation and the relief works undertaken by Jha and his associates was also screened for the reporters.
