Members of the Bihar Anganbari workers in Patna on Tuesday took out a rally between the Gandhi Maidan and R-Block to highlight their long-standing demands including regularization of their jobs, reinstatement of Anganbari helpers who were recently dismissed, and provision for health and life insurance for all the workers.

"We will intensify our agitation if our 12-point demands were not met without condition," said the organization's general secretary Shobha Sinha.

The rally that disrupted traffic for hours ended up at the R-Block crossing where leaders representing various trade unions took turn to speak to the crowd to highlight their demands and the government's alleged apathy towards their cause.

The rally was led by Center of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) General Secretary Arun Kumar Mishra, Bihar State Non-gazetted Employees Union Secretary Manjul Kumar Das, and Anganbari General Secretary Shobha Sinha.

The protestors also demanded raise in their ration allowance, stop on governmental malpractices, traveling allowance, construction of a new central office, and appointments based on recommendations.
