Patna'ites Celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi

Patna: Sept. 3, 2008

People in Patna on Wednesday, a day after observing Teej, celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi by offering prayers to Lord Ganesh and organizing a number of religious and cultural functions though the tone of the festivity remained a little subdued due to massive destruction and loss of lives caused by the flood in North Bihar.

Heavy crowds were seen at the Mahavir Temple outside Patna Junction where the devotees stood in the line for hours to get their turns to get a glimpse of Lord Ganesh.

In Rajendra Nagar, Kadam Kuan, Boring Canal Road, Langar Toli, and Mithapur, special programs were arranged to mark Ganesh Chaturthi and special cultural shows were organized at various schools bringing children, parents, and teachers.
