Teachers' Day Celebrated in Patna
Patna: Sept. 5, 2008
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while attending a function to mark Teachers' Day at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on Friday, said the government was trying to set up temporary schools in flood-affected areas where water has started receding while leaving many families homeless and without schools.
Asking all teachers to cooperate in this project, Kumar said it was imperative to ensure the children's study did not suffer more than what was unavoidable.
"Those who are itching to return to their homes and start normal life are urged not to do so for the next 8-9 months until villages are safe to come back. Health officials and engineers will have to determine the time for safe return and any attempt to do so prematurely could result in further disasters," the Chief Minister said.
Similar events to mark the Teachers' Day were held at the Wheeler Senate Hall, Patna Women's College, and other schools and colleges.
