Daylight Burglary at Bank Official's House. Photo by Shashi UttamBurglars in Patna under Sri Krishna Puri police station, in broad daylight on Friday afternoon, broke into the house of a bank official and got away with cash and valuables worth over several lakh rupees, the police said.

The crime occurred in the flat of Punjab National Bank official Premnath Kanaujia when the family was away visiting a friend's house.

After busting the lock of the main door, the thieves entered the apartment on the 3rd floor and took away gold and silver jewelries worth over Rs. 3 lakh, Rs. 5,000 in cash, and several electronic items totaling several thousand rupees.

The crime was executed with such swiftness that other residents in the apartment complex did not get a clue of what was going on in their building.

The police have detained the servant of the house to determine his involvement in the case, police station in-charge Anuj Prasad said.
