The
Narendra Singh issue reminds us of
the Laloo regime when these kind of
incidents were commonplace. Even
though the regime has now changed,
our politicians are still in the old
mindset. But I am happy to see the
weight you are giving to good
governance and improving work
culture in Bihar and I am confident
that you will take right steps to
stop such incidents from being
repeated in future. - Kumar Saurabh,

To
Mr. Nitish Kumar
The First Chief Minister of
'Independent Bihar'
Dear Nitish Ji
At the very outset I would like to
apologise for the 'rustic tone' of
my letter which basically reflects
my frustration.
Nitishji - you flirted with Bihar
and its politics for several years -
isn't it? You had your honey moon
recently . If you have finished your
honeymoon should we get down to work
?
So you are planning to improve the
law and order situation first. Do
you think you have the courage and
strength for a head on collision
with 'Vikas Purush ' Lalu Yadav
supported by people like Mohd
Shahabuddin? Yes I mean head on
collision. There is no need to be
'goodie- goodie' to everybody. You
will have to be ruthless if you
really mean business in Bihar. But
please be careful - I am one of your
well wishers. Please do not touch
people like Mohd Shahabuddin and
Sadhu Yadav. A former DGP lost his
job. We do not want you to lose
Chief Minister's post. No more
elections in Bihar please.
I wonder what is this rubbish talk
of beautifying Patna. Patna will
become beautiful if you can get rid
of mosquitoes (including some
politicians as well ). If you cannot
get rid of the real dangerous
'mosquitoes' masquerading as
well-wishers then there is no point
in just inaugurating parks and
gardens.
As far as higher education is
concerned I will advice you to
forget it for a couple of years.
Concentrate on primary education,
law and order and basic
infrastructure. Currently anybody
aspiring or eligible for higher
education is leaving Bihar at the
first possible opportunity. Unless
you want more Shahabuddin to appear
for law examination to fill the
vacancies and set the judiciary in
order!!
Nitishji please don't forget that
people of Bihar know whom to 'lick'?
Only problem was that they forgot
whom to kick and where to kick!! Now
they have regained their memory and
courage to do that . Message is loud
and clear - perform or perish. Sweet
talkers do not have any place in my
Bihar. So please stop talking and
request the same from your
overenthusiastic colleagues. Put
your heads down together to deliver
results. Otherwise be ready to get
your heads chopped off in the next
election.
We all have lot of expectations from
an educated leader like you. You
have got the mandate. But do not
take us for granted. You can take
this as an advice from a well wisher
and a warning as well. - Dr
Pankaj Mishra, UK - Dec. 2, 2005
Nitishji, as CM of Bihar you are in
the hottest of the hot seats. On the
one hand is the terrible situation
of Bihar and on the other are the
people's expectations. People have
sky high expectations from you
because you are the lone light at
the end of the very, very long dark
tunnel through which Bihar has been
travelling for 15 long years.
Your cabinet is full of
heterogeneous elements coming from
many different strata of society who
are coming to terms with their new
found status. In this transition
period, which I sincerely hope would
not last long, they brought disgrace
to your government by forcibly
occupying bungalows and slapping
people.
Nitishji you have to crack the whip
sooner or later and get some
discipline. Sooner the better. Only
then you can hope to work as a team
to rectify the many ills of Bihar.
You have to show them who is boss
and show it fast. You have a solid
mandate and you do not have to
adjust with rowdy elements. We are
solidly behind you. - Rajesh
