Why
should MPs from Bihar fight in Lok Sabha? Are
they not having sufficient space and time in or
outside Bihar legislative assembly to do that?

Why can’t they change at least for next three
years? I am sure the opposition must become a
little more responsible. Let Laluji cooperate
with the government on development. Why can’t
they see how the neighbour states, even
Jharkhand and Orissa are going ahead? How they
coordinate and cooperate for the state’s shake
in Lok Sabha? Here are some areas over which MPs
must ponder and get all assistance from all
corners to achieve the prosperity of the state.
Five cities-Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga,
and Bhagalpur must be developed to bring in
investment. Let the government take advantages
of the recent urban development plan- Jawaharlal
Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM)
for urban development for non-metro cities as
far as possible. All these cities must have good
connectivity- road, air, and rail, and
construction companies can be encouraged to
start world-class housing complexes.
At least two of them, may be Darbhanga and
Bhagalpur, must have good domestic airports and
air connections. Infrastructures at Gaya
international airport will require improvements
to attract huge tourist flux from Buddhist
countries of the east. Both Thailand and Japan
can be involved to invest. But many things can
be done by state itself once we realize the
potential to earn and to create employment
through tourism. Buddha Gaya can develop as
another satellite city with a knowledge sector
park. Magadh University must build its brand and
upgrade itself as one of the best universities
of the country.
Let educational trusts be invited in hordes to
set up professional institutes and world class
schools in these cities and for that matter in
every district headquarters. Give a call to
reputed Bihari teachers to become entrepreneurs
in education business and provide all
assistances. A right step has already started
with bringing in BIT in Patna. But Bihar needs
many more first class educational institutes to
create the base for bringing in IT
entrepreneurs.
Let us not bother much if Bill Gates comes or
not, let us invite Premji, Narayana Murthy, and
Nadar and offer the olive branches to them to
come in the state and help by setting up
training institutes and some software
enterprises.
Let us learn how Buddhadev is pushing
agriculture through food processing industry.
Let Bihar take the lead and open up for FDI in
retails. Here at least, there are no leftists to
block the move. Let the petty farmers be able to
sell their output at the best price without
intermediaries. And lay a red carpet for
companies like ITC with its e-Choupal fame. To
help the farmers in getting the right price of
their produce, every thing required must be done
to remove all barriers on movement of
agriculture produce to the best paying market.
As the government has already taken the steps to
restart all the sugar mills, similar steps must
be taken for other industrial units too. One
such big complex is at Dehri-on-Sone.
Can all who can do something for Bihar not take
a clue from what Chidambaram told in Lok Sabha,
“Six delegations from abroad met me in the last
three days" and they were talking about
investing in billions of dollars?”
Please get the website of the state updated that
seems to have frozen on 20.11.2005.
Lists all projects above Rs.1 crore
district-wise with the department and the
officer-in-charge responsible, and an estimated
date of completion on a dedicated website, so
that every citizen of the state can know what is
happening.
I wish all bureaucrats, politicians, and the
people work in a coordinated manner to develop
Bihar. This is a great opportunity to catch the
bus. Biharis should not miss it this time.
