The Beetle Dung

Readers Write

I am going to write in the style of our very active participant Mr. Sharma and ask a lot of questions here.

What is wrong with us Biharis? Do our typing fingers itch only when the topic of caste and the "badhaali of Bihar" comes up? Should we not be discussing issues that pertain to larger things like our Indian Identity and culture ?

I have noticed the disturbing trend that all articles that do not pertain to the communalism, casteism and the wretchedness of Bihar do not get any attention in form of comments/opinions from readers. This is very unfortunate.

Do we open up the PD website to a) find how many have been shot dead in Bihar and b) wallow in the stories and articles of misery and wretchedness like pigs and buffaloes wallowing in dirt ? Let's not make PD our 'guslkhana' that is visited for only one express purpose.

Are we like the dung-beetles that isn't able to live in a clean place and always seeks out dung? Most of the people who write in are NRI's and NRB's. I urge them to discuss national and cultural issues as well. There is no doubt that Biharis are brilliant and enterprising people - so lets shine on here and discuss economics, national politics, ornithology, anthropology and whatever else one fancies to share with other enlightened people of Bihar.

Comments:
Mr. Aarcee should worry about his own writing and not others. If people choose not to respond to his articles, there is not much he can do about it. He should realize not everyone can have similar interests like him or wants to talk about things that only he wants to talk about. People will talk what they want to talk and frankly, I don't understand how people can talk about anything else when Bihar, our home, is burning.

I do agree with Mr. Aarcee about Mr. Indra's style of writing. Mr. Indra asks too many questions, particularly in his concluding paragraph without offering any solution. But then Mr. Aarcee is in the habit of frequently using Hindi/Urdu words in his writing. I guess it all boils down to one's personal writing style. - Anil Kumar - Oct. 24, 2005
