Raj,
we are not wasting our time. What we
are doing is called democracy. There
are two views, two equal and
opposite views. And it is not in
Bihar or India alone. If you watch
CSPAN or hear democratic senators
here in USA also then you will see
that there is no difference here
also.
At present all the bad mouthing,
lawless etc. you are receiving is
from a group who are venting their
utter frustration because their
beloved raja and messiah is kicked
out of power and their beloved rani
is being dragged out of her house.
Well problem is their frustration is
only going to get worse as time goes
by irrespective of how this
government performs. We can't help.
Same thing was true about other
group when Laloo was in power. Right
now they don't want to give 3 months
to Nitish, it does not matter any
way. Given choice I would not have
given Laloo even one day but did it
matter?
Most people who are opposing Nitish
here right now are the people who
have never voted and will never vote
for Nitish no matter what he does.
So I think we need to ignore them
and that is what we are doing.
We should continue thinking about
all constructive things anyway and
that is what we are doing. -

Mr
Raj, I agree with your views to a
great extent. I have often undergone
this feeling, that you are in now.
Instead of discussing and doing
something towards the development of
Bihar, some of us just keep talking
about the negative things that we
have been listening for years now. I
don't understand how that will help
us, if not damage our reputation
further. One line that I hate to
listen is "Bihar will never
improve". Unfortunately, I hear this
time and again, often by our own
people. But, when I think later with
a cool mind, I realize that they are
just like the father who scolds his
son saying "This boy is hopeless".
It's actually love and too much of
expectation which comes out in those
words of frustration. We should not
go by words but the sentiments
hidden behind them.
If by talking about 'consultancy',
you were referring to my article,
let me clarify that my intention was
not to present my case for others to
analyze and suggest me. I am now old
enough to decide what is right and
wrong for me. I just wanted to make
sure people are aware of the menace,
that our next generation is so
vulnerable to get inflicted with.
And they are prepared with a
solution to fight against it. I
wanted to discuss what affects all
of us, not just an individual. I
thought my own experience would add
seriousness to the topic, but that
did not work out. If I told
something that has hurt you, then I
apologize for that. I am just too
sentimental when it is about my
parent. And I must say that your
views on my article were meaningful,
though I feel it would help only a
small group of people. - Kumod

Practice before preaching. No need
to write long volume if you advice
others against it. Positive attitude
as well as negative is infective.
Let others think positively. It is
the positive attitude which brings
good to mankind. If it is time waste
to read articles on PD then don't.
No one is forcing anyone. Thanks.

Kumodji, there are no oblique
references towards you in my
write-up. You are a good person and
that reflects in your writing and in
your mannerism. My reference to
"unwanted, honorary armchair
consultants" was directed at people
who malign the image of Bihar and
Biharis. My article is, as you
rightly deciphered, about our
showing Bihar in a very negative
light to the world, even more than
what it deserves. Had it been such a
horrid place Carolyn would not have
any good experience to narrate. If
we Biharis paint our state black all
the time, we have precisely the
following two options:
1) Hide your Bihari identity
wherever we stay.
2) Be ridiculed by others who think
Bihar is the south end of the horse.
By constantly talking of
hopelessness we are doing a great
dis-service to ourselves and our
kids. We are behaving like Kalidas -
cutting the very branch on which we
sit. The world reads our disgust and
dismay and forms a very negative
image about Bihar and Biharis. Then
we go around with pride proclaiming
"I am from Bihar". What do we expect
from others? Flowers? When the world
treats you like scum, humiliates
you, ignores you, or worse, beats
you up you hold a king size grouse
against them for ill treating you.
But who started it?
I agree with you. There are people
who write with concern and their
concern is visible in their words.
Their words are well selected and
are not malicious. However, there
are some who paint a grim picture
about the future of Bihar.
Proclaiming all filth is in Bihar
and nothing can ever change that.
Talking negative and projecting that
no good can ever come to Bihar It is
like spitting in the air as it will
all fall back on the face of the
spitter.
As we all know the status of any
person outside his state / country
is directly connected to the image
of his state / country. Our respect
in societies outside Bihar will stay
connected to the image of Bihar. PD
was meant to be a forum for
positive, constructive discussion.
Some of us have started using it to
malign the image of Bihar and as an
extension Biharis. I want that to
stop. After all PD is read world
over by non-Biharis too. Let us be
constructive and optimistic when we
debate. Talk of problems and
solutions in sterile language and
well selected words. Do not create a
filthy image. - Raj - Jan. 24,
