As
everyone knows what’s the image of our police
system in any normal Bihari or Indian mind.
There is a big nexus between politicians and
criminals. The police people being dummies in
the hands of politicians don't do anything. If
some police personnel try to catch a politician
or a person who is related to a politician, he
will be transferred to some remote planets
(places) etc. Also those who stand by their
principles often have to pay a price that can
hardly be imagined. So, they don't want to do
that and corruption flourishes there. Also for
each action police people need to take against
big criminals there is a big list of people
whose approvals would be required (which in many
cases might not be given) and all this really
kills the enthusiasm of the honest police
officials who want to do something for the
nation. Apart from that, there are some crooked
cops, there is a set of people in the police
department whose whole sole aim is to make money
by hook or crook. These are people who have made
the whole system really bad. There are those who
may take the law into their own hands.
But there are also a group of khaki wardi walas
who are doing their very best to serve as our
protectors and advocates. We should take the
time to celebrate those who, day in and day out,
perform admirably and with honor. Mr. C. K.
Anil, Mr K. J Rao (Jai Jai Rao of Bihar
Election), Mr. D. P. Ojha (Ex DGP), are a few
names of those officer who have earned a deep
respect. This time, the Patna Police led by the
Captain Kundan Krishnan has proved it and has
earned praised by the different communities and
the common man.
Readers might have read about the arrest of
another don of Bihar Mr. Anand Mohan at Patna
Railway Station after his arrival from New Delhi
by Sampoorna Kranti Express by Patna Police. The
SSP (Mr. Kundan Krishnan) even gave a mind
blowing punch to the don, who was trying to
create tamasha and resist the arrest. The don
was then pinned on the ground and the Patna
police dragged him to a waiting police van after
which he was taken to the Kotwali police
station. The don’s chela chapati and tutpunjia
chamcha’s were also beaten by the jawans and
taken into custody.
To continue with, let me write a brief history
and some popular cases of this don Anand Mohan
Singh. Anand Mohan has some 35 cases pending
against him, which includes murder, attempt to
murder, criminal conspiracy, extortion,
abduction etc in the Shaharsa, Madhepura and
Muzaffarpur districts. He has been behind bars
several times under the National Security Act,
the Maintenance of Internal Security Act, the
Crime Control Act and the Arms Act. Mohan formed
Krantikari Samajwadi Sena in 1980 and
unsuccessfully contested to the Lok Sabha in
1980. He later became a JD legislator from
Nahishi in 1990. Afterwards he formed Bihar
People's Party in 1993 and failed to win from
three Assembly seats in 1995. Finally he won the
Sheohar MP seat in 1996, and 1998 conducting
most of his campaign from prison and after that
lost to Anwarul Haque in 1999.
Mohan shot into a measure of fame after killing
a rapist who was convalescing in hospital.
During the anti-reservation agitation, he lead
the upper-caste offensive against the terror
unleashed by 'Pappu' Yadav in the Kosi area.
Known as the 'Stormy petrol of Saharsa', Mohan
is the main accused in Gopalganj district
magistrate G Krishnaiya's murder in December
1994. He is also charged with the killing of Raj
Kumar Choudhari, the flamboyant Independent
candidate from Madhepura, during the 1991
parliamentary election.
Amongst the above cases the most famous and
popular case was the murder of Gopalganj
Magistrate G Krishnaiya's in December 1994. Let
me tell you the story of that popular case. In
October 1994, Late G. Krishnaiah received his
posting as District Magistrate of Gopalganj. As
many of us knows Gopalganj is renowned as one of
the most lawless areas in India, and only two
weeks before, Krishnaiah's predecessor as
District Magistrate had been killed by a bomb
hidden in a briefcase in his office. Two months
later, Krishnaiah was driving along a road at
dusk when he ran in to the funeral procession of
a local mafia don who had been killed in a
shoot-out the day before. The procession was
being led by the local MP, Anand Mohan Singh.
Anand Mohan Singh exhorted his followers to
lynch the upstart official, whereupon the
mourners surrounded Krishnaiah's car, and one of
Singh's henchmen fired three shots at him.
Krishnaiah was badly wounded but was still
alive. So, encouraged by Anand Mohan Singh, the
mourners pulled him from his car and slowly
stoned him to death.
Anand Mohan Singh was arrested, but from his
prison cell he contested and retained his seat
in the 1996 general election, later securing
bail to attend parliament. A few years back he
distinguished himself during a parliamentary
debate by snarling, Say that “again and I'll
come and break your teeth' at an opponent on the
other side of the Lok Sabha debating chamber.
Mohan is also accused of carrying arms in inside
the Lok Sabha in year 1998, which is considered
to be a notified restricted area. Mohan hurt
himself when he slammed the lobby door while he
was being evicted by marshals for disrupting a
discussion on the Women's Reservation Bill.
During his medical examination, according to
reports, firearms were recovered from him.
I am totally convinced by the article “Are You
Listening Mr. Chief Minister?” by Anil Kumar
dated April 29, 2006, readers write,
patnadaily.com. In his clear cut approach, Mr
Anil Kumar suggested, CATCH THE CRIMINALS, KILL
THEM IN ENCOUNTERS - IN THEIR JAIL CELLS, HANG
THEM IN PUBLIC PLACES, FIRE YOUR ENTIRE POLICE
DEPARTMENT, BRING IN THE ARMY, GIVE ARMS TO LAW
ABIDING CITIZENS, LAUNCH MASSIVE STRIKES AGAINST
NAXALS AND WIPE THEM OFF FROM THE FACE OF BIHAR;
GET RID OF CRIMINALS FROM YOUR OWN PARTY - DON'T
PROTECT THEM ON TECHNICAL GROUNDS”. To add with,
we need more and more C. K Anil, Jai Jai Rao, D.
P. Ojha, and the encounter specialist like Daya
Nayak (Mumbai).
To conclude with, let us say thanks for the work
done by the Patna Police led by his Captain,
Kundan Krishnan and lets hope that the Bihar
Police will try to make a good image in our
heart, and will continue doing similar kind of
work in future too.

SSP Kundan Krishnan has set an
example for the entire police system
of this nation to deal with such
corrupt politicians. Bihar Police
has gained new respect with this
episode between him and Anand Mohan.
Bihar needs such officers. The
Patna'ites should come forward and
publicly honour Kundan Krishnan and
Patna Police for all this. It is
really superb to hear such inspiring
things.
But at the same time I feel pity
over Nitish Kumar's inability to
handle this big-mouthed MLA from
Piro.. Sunil Pandey who has been
blackmailing his government and now
openly threatens to bring the
government down and killing the SSP
if this incident had happened with
him!
Any way first honour SSP Kundan
Krishnan for this great job! I
salute him. - Ravi Shankar, Delhi

Well done! I only hope that this
does not become a political issue
and result into a "reprimand" or
transfer of the SSP. Actually, the
SSP exposed himself a little by
beating up the goon in public view.
I wish he had given him a good
thrashing in the police lock-up. But
then we would have been deprived of
the sight on TV.
Another "leader" of the same ilk,
Sunil Pandey says that he would have
shot the officer had he been treated
the way Anand Mohan was. I wish the
SSP now bring some senses back to
Mr. Pandey at the earliest available
opportunity.
Mr. Pandey goes on to say that
Nitish Kumar has given a free hand
to bureaucrats, and as a result he
will lose the next elections. I hope
the leadership doesn't get swayed by
such remarks and keeps up the good
work. The bureaucrats should also
not get carried away by their new
found "powers" and misuse them to
trouble innocent people. -

Good job done by Bihar Police, well
done. - Bhanu Prakash - July 19,

Dear Ashok,
You are absolutely correct here
regarding Gopalganj DM case in 1983.
Sri M. P. Sharma was killed in his
office as DM of this district, later
on India's top Brahman politicians
tried their best to free Sant Gyan
who was the main culprit in that
murder case.
But once again, the question is -
Why such Bahubali leaders? Is the
society responsible for that?? -
Ranjan Kumar , NOIDA - July 19, 2006
Just to let you know this is not the
first time Police Captain SSP Kundan
Krishnan has shown his courage
against corrupt politician, criminal
or society. He has been a great
police captain in past too.
If I am not wrong, he first joined
as Superintendent of Police at
Chhapra (Saran) district near
1999-2000. If you see this small
height man in civil dress you won't
believe that he leads the whole
Police force.
As I said this not the first time he
has done honour for us by nabbing
the criminal. This is the story of
2002-2003 when he was the SP of
Chhapra. Bihar has got criminals in
all cities, towns and villages. It
was the same story with Chhapra
where many criminals from town to
villages were committing crime
openly each day. That time it was
being said in my town that if you go
to one village named Garkha on a
motorcycle, you would not return
with your bike as it would be easily
taken away by some criminals. That
time many criminals and murderers
were walking free. It was SP
Krishnan who came in and started to
catch all those criminals who were
facing charges. I tell you he almost
caught all criminals and locked them
up in Chhapra Central jail.
Now the drama starts when all
criminals were in jail. Somehow
these criminals captured the jail by
killing one police constable and
taking another hostage. It was a
very big drama as all the prisoners
started throwing stones out of jail
which is located in the center of
the city and residential complexes
all around. Few causalities did
occur in the public. They captured
the whole jail for two days and
demanded the transfer of the SP. The
police requested the prisoners to
free the constable and give up
control on jail but something else
had to happen there.
On the third day, the police captain
himself issued a warning to give up
control or the result could be
devastating. When they did not
follow the order, it was our SP's
time to show his courage against
these criminals. He was in contact
with Bihar CM and police Chief as
well as in contact with New Delhi
for his big plan. Once he got the
permission, he invaded the jail with
external forces which was called
from Hajipur and Patna. He himself
entered the jail first by scaling a
tall wall. This was seen by many
residents of Chhapra. The criminals
opened fire on the SP but he could
save himself with all those bullet
proof clothes he was wearing. Few
forces entered from other parts of
the jail and then firing began from
both sides. All this could be seen
by residents on their house roofs.
He encountered seven criminals in
jail who were known for their terror
in town. If he had wanted, he could
have taken them alive but his
mission was different. He wanted
those criminals dead for a safer and
crime-free town.
As far as my knowledge is concerned,
an SP is posted for three years at
one place but Krishnan stayed at
Chhapra for five years. The people
of Chhapra arranged a farewell for
him when he was to leave the city to
go to Patna and join as Senior SP.
Unfortunately I was not there on his
farewell day but I heard he had
tears in his eyes.
So we do have a great Police
captain, Collector, DIG etc. If
Nitish's government back up these
young and honest commanders of his
police team, one day our Pride
(Bihar) will be crime-free. -
Abhay Gupta, London - July 20, 2006
Thanks Mr. Abhay Gupta for
enlightining us about the great work
of SSP Kundan Krishnan in Chapra. I
accept, I never knew about this
work, although my interests are in
these areas only. Well, this kind of
police officers are really gem in
true sense, and as the other reader
have suggested that the Patnities
should come forward to publicly
honor him. I am also in favor of
that. The officers like him deserves
that.
Its again pathetic to see that a
goon like Sunil Pandey is making
statement against the SSP. Every one
knows, even Sunil Pandey kind of
khaddar dhari (dont call this kind
of khaddar dhari as Neta or leaders,
basically its a insult for our brave
and true neta like Dr, Rajendra
prasad, JP etc) take bath in Ganga
river at 4 o clock in morning every
day and keep fast once in week for
next 60 years, he cant match the
intelligence, courage, and
personality of the Kundan Krishnan,
C. K Anil, etc. You will be
surprised to know that Six JD(U),
BJP and LJP MLAs had condemned the
"assault" on Anand Mohan and said
they would meet Nitish Kumar to seek
action against the SSP. The MLAs
were Jaikumar Singh, Ren Devi and
Niraj Singh "Babloo" of JD(U),
Subhas Singh and Ashok Singh of BJP
and Vijay Kumar Singh of LJP. What
can you say about these MLA? I dont
know whats the motive of these MLA
to condemn the "ASSAULT" on Anand
Mohan. Anand Mohan, being a
prisioner can call for a press
conference, can do what ever he
wants and if a honest officer, wants
to show him his right place, these
MLA makes their voices against it.
My goodness what the hell is going
on in their mind. Are they really
representative of common people or
representative of crimes and
criminals? Can any one throw some
light over this issues? - Ashok
Pandey - July 20, 2006
As a proud Bihari, my chest was
puffed when I read about the brave
work of the Patna Police under the
dynamic leadership of the SSP Mr.
Kundan Krishnan. The cases, though
still few and far between, will
instill SOME faith in law and order
of the state, in the minds of people
who watch the state from outside.
I am amazed by Mr. Ashok Pandey's
elephantine memory of Anand Mohan's
kartoots. How do you do this Mr.
Pandey? Do you keep a diary,
electronically save the news
articles of your interest, or what?
I am sure a quick search of the net
by any search engine would not have
provided all the data that you
provided of the pasts misdeeds of
this goon khaddardhari, as you
prefer to call these gundas. -
