As
I was born and brought up in Bihar I feel deeply
frustrated to find that the problem of law and
order continues to pester the state despite
change in government. Biharis in America are
keenly watching Nitish's performance.
The priorities of the Nitish government seem to
have gone wrong after it came to power. The
first and foremost priority should have been to
tone up the law and order situation in the state
and in order to achieve this he should have
brought in a Police Chief of the caliber of Mr.
Gill or some one of proven record.
Unfortunately, this has not been done for
reasons known to him only. This is sending a
wrong signal to the people and to investors whom
he is trying to attract to the state.
I have had many occasions to interact with NRIs
in the US who are fed up with hollow slogans of
the government as nothing seems to have changed
on the ground. A lawless state should not dream
of attracting investment even from the captains
of industry within the country, what to talk of
foreign investment.
I would, therefore, appeal to the CM to fully
concentrate on law and order as the only
priority for the present. People are getting
restless to see a perceptible change. If the
criminals are contained and fear is elbowed out
other things will follow automatically. The
conducive climate then will motivate investors
to invest in roads and electricity, other two
most important areas in dire need of
improvement.
