I
am a regular visitor of your web site. I found
many articles on your website about Bihar Govt's
effort to establish contact with Bihari people
living abroad but sadly I never read any posting
related to Bihari people living in MAURITIUS,
TRINIDAD & TOBAGO, GUYANA, SURINAM, and FIJI
where they are in considerable number. These
people migrated to these countries some 150
years ago as indentured labours and now they are
very affluent as well as influential in there
own society. I know many Biharis living in these
countries personally and they are very
interested in culture and customs of Bihar.

You
are right. Biharis have excelled in
Mauritius, British Guyana, Trinidad,
and other countries you have
mentioned. They have been elected
President, Prime Minister and other
top political positions. Punjabis
and Gujaratis have migrated to
foreign countries in a large numbers
but they and other Indians can't
match their accomplishments any
foreign country. I have been living
with my family in the USA for more
than 35 years and all of us are
doing pretty well. I have been to
India and several foreign countries
on a high level US delegation but I
am proud of Biharis in the countries
which you have mentioned. I wish we
can learn from them. They can make a
difference to Bihar.
Those Biharis who had gone to Patna
during Lalu Yadav's time did not
have stature or real interest in
Bihar's welfare. - Braj Singh -

It
seems to be a good proposal to
create NRB (Non-Resident Bihari)
cell, which will certainly help
Bihar to grow-up. Your observations
are right. I hope the govt. will try
to explore all possibilities in this
regard. Already Sushil Modi has just
concluded his tri-nation trip of
U.K., Italy, and Canada and said the
government was considering setting
up a Non-Resident Bihari (NRB) cell
in the state. I know many Biharis
here in the USA who are looking
forward to get opportunity to invest
on Bihari soil. As Lalu's jungle raj
ruined their all hopes, we hope
Nitish ji will do something. - G.
