Dubey Jee.
Very smart ideas. I live in UK and
know how all these amenities work.
Our honourable Railway Minister
should think about these
constructive measures. But he is
only interested in showing off his
rustic behaviour to impress the
lower strata rather doing some thing
to develop the basic facilities and
safety of the people in general.
Hope this will be an eye opener for
our Lalu Jee! - Krishna Kanhaiya,

Dear Tarakeshwarji, your thoughts
are great considering the pathetic
security system on Indian Railways.
Nowadays, whenever a person starts a
train journey in north India, he
uses to purchase a new LIC policy so
that in case he could not return
home (most likely), his dependents
could have something to rely upon.
Putting security personnel, video
cameras and other hi-tech equipment
in the trains are great but
expensive ideas and I do not know
whether Railways could afford that.
Moreover, we would be saved from
anti-social elements by police and
guards, but who will save us from
these policemen or guards? These
policemen are nothing but goons in
uniform and it's a naked truth that
all the snatchings and lootings are
done with the knowledge of these
personnel. In most cases, they get a
fair piece of cake earned by the
dacoits during the loot.
Moreover, I am really surprised that
you dream of becoming a minister
because for that you would have to
be a politician; politician like
Laluji. I do not know whether you
can afford that much of power,
muscle, money, dadagiri, rowdism,
comedy etc. etc. I do not know
whether you would be able to divide
the society in all directions. I am
unsure that you would be able to eat
that much chara before reaching that
ministerial berth. Forgive me if
that seems rude but it's true that
now anyone who wishes to prosper in
politics, has to do that.
One last word, please do not ask
Laluji to take those actions.
Otherwise, he would be criticised
for large-scale unemployment. These
remedies would bring unemployment.
Looting, kidnapping, robbery were
some of the small scale industries
well-functioning in Bihar. These
great steps were taken by the
earlier government to provide
instant employment without any
effort. - Ravish Kumar, Hyderabad

Sahi kaha Dubeyjee, only if we could
be the Railway Minister then things
might have been different. Yahan to
jiski lathi hoti hai, bhains bhi usi
ki hoti hai. Now Lalu ji is riding
the wave of popularity on the basis
of profit shown in the Railways. Are
you aware that he and his
achievements are being discussed in
the premises of IIM'S among
intellectuals?
But there are many things these
people at IIM tend to overlook and
that is the security and hospitality
of Railways. The killing of ex-DIG
has proved how secure trains are in
Bihar. Since it was a case of high
police officer, this became an
important news. There are hundreds
of such cases which go unrecorded.
To rub salt on the wound, I am going
to write one incident which will
prove all the hollowness of
Railway's hospitality. This again I
read in the newspaper and I feel our
PatnaDaily should also publish such
news.
Last Saturday the passengers of 3232
Dn Danapur Howrah Express had
unusual visitors in their A/C
three-tier bogie. First the bogie in
which they were traveling was
flooded with water as it rained as
soon as the train left Patna
Junction. Then next was the turn of
rats and cockroaches who tumbled out
of bed rolls. The passengers were
fuming with rage as they found the
bogie flooded with ankle deep water.
Kya Lalu ji isiko kahte hain "CHIRAG
TALE ANDHERA". If things are at such
state in your home state, imagine
the conditions in other states. -

It is really a very nice article and
the writer has tried to draw the
sketch of the train of TWENTY FIRST
CENTURY. We all dream like the
writer for comfortable and safe
journey. Even the so called leaders
and elite class wish the same. But
there is no initiative at any stage.
We all know that there is acute
shortage of employment and if such
kind of plan is implemented, can
give a hope to the unemployed. As
most of the problems are related
with unemployment and illiteracy, by
providing such facilities in train
and other departments of government,
such incidents can be avoided.
Curbing menaces of this kind is not
so easy but still an initiative can
be taken from all sections of the
society along with the government.
After all being citizens of
democratic country, we all are part
of the government. So blaming only
the government is not the solution.
It is us who have to look and elect
the right persons who can think and
take the rational steps for the
betterment of each every field of
our life. - Sanjay Kumar - June

I think the writer must come out of
his DREAM! We are living in India,
which is a developing country and
the writer’s thoughts are like, we
are living in a develop country like
US or UK and only the railway needs
improvement.
First of all, replacing CRPF or GRP
by commandos is not possible.
Otherwise why don’t we replace
entire police force by the
commandos, because every single
policeman is for the protection of
citizen.
We can't monitor even a single bogey
of train with one video surveillance
camera due to its structure. So
imagine how many cameras you require
to monitor a single train and then
think about all the trains running
all over India.
How can we replace open windows with
fix glass? I don’t think you are
trying to say to convert entire
train into AC compartment.
We can remove general class if we
are able to run a specific train for
the general people.
We can train the gangman with
martial arts but can't give them
weapons.
A like-minded citizen like you can
become the minister and should
become the minister but we can't go
for the out of box thinking because
of our financial limitations. -

This is the precise problem that we
Indians have. Just because we are
not a developed country, doesn't
mean that we cannot have better
infrastructure, at par with US or UK
or other developed country. BTW, how
to become a developed country
without good infrastructure? Isn't
it oxymoron? What is wrong if we
retrofit our trains with latest in
security and comfort
technologies. Lalu Prasad is singing
ga ga over his railway surplus. Why
cant 50% of the profit be diverted
to improve the conditions of
railways, just like mentioned by Mr.
Dubey?
Recently I traveled from Nepal to
Gorakhpur to take a train to Delhi.
This is what I faced. Since I did
not have any reservation, I bought a
general ticket. I found out that
tatkal is already over for Vaishali
and Sapt Kranti. I also learned that
tatkal means up to 5 days in
advance? So it is virtually
impossible to get a reservation 2
days before journey especially
during summer rush. Well Vaishali
arrived 1 hour late, and there was
no space in any of the general
bogies. It was also full at least
three times the normal capacity. A
coolie suggested me to go to the
last coach which is actually luggage
cum handicapped coach. Well half of
it was occupied by military men and
their family. They had scratched on
the door with a sharp object "ARMY"
and won't let anybody in. The last
hope was the vikalang (handicapped)
side of the coach. I managed to
somehow enter inside and got to sit
on my own suitcase near toilet, from
where water was flowing out. And
except for 2-3 people no one of them
had any kind of handicap.
Well observed few thing that might
improve service for general poor.
Majority of the travelers are poor,
traveling in unreserved coaches.
Every coach has almost 3 times the
capacity. I think general coach
passengers' combined revenue is much
more than other classes. Why can't
railway provide more general coaches
so that these poor people can travel
with some comfort as well. Modern
train pull a lot of bogies, why
can't attach more unreserved bogies.
This may save money in other ways to
railways as well. Like maintenance
of overburdened coaches... Just a
thought... - Surendra Upadhaya -
