PatnaDaily
is an eCommerce venture, a website probably
html, ASP or JSP front-end, Websphere or
WebLogic middleware, Oracle or SQL server
backend. PatnaDaily probably is a cluster of IBM
or Solaris server, have some connection to
legacy mainframe. Either some geek or expert
probably maintains PatnaDaily website.
But there is another PatnaDaily. After Magadh,
Taxsila and Nalanda, PatnaDaily is now pride or
"Shaan" of Patna. It is a window to the world
for Bihar. PatnaDaily is a site which tells
world that Bihar is not all about Laloo and
Charvaha. PatnaDaily tells world that Biharis
not only speak Magadhi or Maithili mixed Laloo
Hindi. PatnaDaily tells world that Biharis in
their English can give complex to Oxford and
Harvard literate English professors.
There is another PatnaDaily. A PatnaDaily where
Aarcee, Rajesh Chaubey Indra ji and Som
Vishwakarma and many other continue like "Karmayogi"
by writing articles of different kinds to
entertain and enlighten people without worrying
whether they get comment, praise or curse.
Then there is another PatnaDaily. This
PatnaDaily is like Gandhi Maidan of Patna, free
for all, where either you can take your cows or
do a Lathi Rally or invite NRIs to invest. For
some, it is the 'chauraha' of Darbhanga where
Sanjay Gupta and Roshan Kumar can either drink
tea together or discuss world peace.
There is another PatnaDaily. And here Ravi
Pandey is caught red-handed while trying to sell
his business plan to Biharis.
And there is another PatnaDaily and on this
PatnaDaily some academic topic becomes cold war
and cold increases to the extent that Reader's
Write site gets frozen for two weeks. People
like me could not stop clicking everyday in the
hope that perhaps editor might change his
decision sooner.
But among all these there is another PatnaDaily.
A very live, living, breathing, sensing, feeling
PatnaDaily. A group of young or old people who
maintain and manage PatnaDaily website. You sent
a hate mail and repented after 5 minutes. You
did not mean anything you wrote. But felt
relaxed it is not there on PatnaDaily. You
thought nobody read it. Wrong! Somebody from
this PatnaDaily fixed your mess for you. You
wrote a long letter, many grammatical errors,
spelling mistakes but found that they were
missing in actual article. Somebody did this
magic for you in this PatnaDaily. A group of
young and dedicated team, which kept this
venture going, kept site clean, kept web page
fast and kept design simple so that you can use
them.
No I am not selling anything. Just thanking
these warriors for their great efforts.
And I like PatnaDaily the way it is, sometime
sweet, sometime hot, sometime tender, sometime
hard, sometime praise, sometime curse, no
formality, clear, candid and sometime arrogant
just like a BIHARI.

A very
nice, feel good letter. Just like
you I would check daily if the
editor had changed his mind so that
I could continue reading the
interesting articles posted by those
you mentioned as well as letters by
Kumod Jha, S. M. Khurshid Anwar,
Siddharth Verma (where did you learn
to write such good English?) and
dozens of other excellent writers
with such refreshing ideas all for
the benefit and in the name of good
old Mother Bihar. Now that the terms
have been set by PatnaDaily I hope
we can go on unimpeded by extraneous
issues and join hands, everyone of
us, in maintaining this wonderful
platform for discussion in the true
spirit of brotherhood (and
sisterhood, lest I be accused of
being sexist). Happy writing to all.
