From
time to time there often rises a great noisy hue
and cry over the issue of reservation for the
underprivileged sections of society, followed by
mass protests and severe agitations against it
seen in every nook and corner of the country.
Surprisingly, this time the volcano of
indignation against the reservation in education
and private sector jobs has vehemently erupted
everywhere to such an extent that the whole
country is flaring up with protests and strikes
by the students of various streams. Reservation
may be viewed a positive action for the
betterment of the economically underprivileged
people of society but it is an open secret that
it is more a political gimmick for garnering
votes for the so-called leaders with vested
interests than anything else. It is a common
knowledge that reservation is a thought child of
our constitution aiming at the social equality.
However, even after more than five decades since
its constitutional implementation it has not
done anything so good to the underprivileged
students in a desired way. Only the economically
well-off people of the backward sections have
availed and reaped the benefits of reservation
getting them at par even with the forward
classes.
It is really a matter of grave concern that in
spite of the verdict of Hon’ble Supreme Court
that reservation should not exceed 50%, some
political leaders are trying to extend it OBCs
only for their political mileage. Such leaders
are playing with the future of students. Instead
of highlighting reservation issue the ST/SC and
OBC students should be given opportunities to
stand on their own feet without the crutches of
reservation and compete with other talented
ones. So, the need of the hour is to create
equal opportunities for such students so that
they can prove their mettle in each and every
sphere of life but not at the cost of the
talents of others. Moreover, a student coming
through reservation is more likely to be swayed
by the feeling of inferiority complex.
In connection with the ongoing protests against
the implementation of reservation in central
educational institutes like AIITs, AIIMs, and
universities. What Dr. A.P.J Kalam, President of
India, has pointed out needs to seriously be
taken into consideration . He has categorically
suggested that rather than reservations the
seats in such prestigious institutions should be
increased for not solving this crisis, rather
for dissolving it for good. The creation of more
and more seats will pave the way for the Dalit
and OBC students to come to the platform and
show their talents.
In short, reservation must be based on
economical need and not on caste distinction.
Ironically, on the one hand we lay emphasis on
the total eradication of caste system from our
society but attempts ,on the other hand ,are
being made to bring it back through the issue of
reservation in the name of uplifting the
downtrodden people. The dragon of reservation
seems to be heading towards devouring the whole
nation, while spitting out the lethal venom on
the budding talents and future think tanks of
India.

I
agree with the cautions raised by
the writer. Reservations have become
a sharp tool to carve out political
mileage by dividing the society.
Congress has tried to cast the same
magic spell which V P Singh did 15
years ago. Our politicians have
derived a few empirical equations
about our society. They just pass
new parameters to those equations
and simply apply to us. And the
worse part of it is that we, after
knowing everything, just dance to
their tunes.
I just want to ask the top-most
policy makers and the politicians,
is it sufficient to reserve the
quota for a particular section of
the society to improve their overall
status. First of all, even if a seat
is reserved in a medical college,
unless all the basic amenities are
given to those people, they would
never compete at the school level or
the college level therefore it is
pointless that the poor would get
any benefit from it. Most probably,
offspring of socially backward but
economically strong people would get
benefited like Lalu Prasad Yadav,
Ram Vilas Paswan and other so called
backward communities. Government is
just silent on the pathetic state of
the schools, colleges, universities
and trying to tempt the weaker
sections of society by showing these
Lollypops.
Congress is trying to play NERO by
disturbing the chords of society.
This illogical social conspiracy has
been formed by the core group of
Congress which has made Arjun Singh
a mouth-piece and trying to play
undercover games. If something
negative happens, Arjun Singh would
be made 'BALI KA BAKRA' and would be
shirked in the same manner as Mr.
Natwar Singh has been sidelined. For
the positive results, Sonia and
Rahul are ready to be projected as
the 'OBC DALIT CHAMPIONS' and then
Lok Sabha elections would be called
for. Congress actually wants more
power to come out of the RED
clutches which have really
strengthened themselves by enjoying
power as well as protesting against
the current government upon certain
issues.
One more thing I would like point
out here, looking at the pro and
anti-reservation protests occurring
all over the country, I have got a
feeling that it has been a chess
game, where same person is playing
from both sides. First, he ignites
the reservation controversy and
waits for the protest against it.
The protest comes in mild forms of
Dharna, Rally etc. He tries to
ignite it by lathi-charging and
tear-gas shelling. His followers in
the anti-reservation lobby then,
increase the tempo of the protests
by strike and clashes and again he
waits for the reaction againts all
these protests. When nothing
happens, his followers start
pro-reservation rallies and strikes
and again he is waiting for these
clashes to go deep down in society
which would ultimately lead to
division of the society once again.
The dangerous game has began and
once again the lamb-like-public is
following the well-articulated path
of destruction.
I am thankful to Biharis, the same
so-called rowdy BIHARIs, who have
shown ultimate calm and solidarity
till now in expressing their
concerns. Arjun Singh and congress
must be feeling frustrated by Bihari
reaction. Most probably it happened
due to 15 years of TERROR-TENURE of
Laluji that has made people realize
the fact that the politicians never
think of society and their only aim
is to fool and rule. - Ravish

Yes, I totally agree with Mr. Jha,
his brilliant view on the
Reservation: A Dragon Spitting
Venoms on The Talents. Really The
tragedy of the comedy is that the
UPA government wants to carry on
with the process of peace talks with
the known and humane terrorists of
compassionate Jihadic Islam on the
one hand and to initiate a process
of civil war between different
sections of society in India in
order to create a casteless India
based on the law of Quota Raj.
The men who created the French
Revolution in the 'Age of
Enlightenment ' in France in 1789
will be dismissed by Arjun Singh, V
P Singh, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Ram
Vilas Paswan and others of their ilk
in the UPA government as destroyers
of equity and social justice. The
slogan that was on the lips of every
revolutionary in France at the time
of the French Revolution was '
Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.'
The UPA government under the
strategic de facto stranglehold of
Sonia Gandhi and the de jure
Manmohan Singh and supinely saluted
by that Human Resource Destruction
Minister Arjun Singh, is now trying
to introduce a jungle jugglery of
Quota Raj.
Arjun Singh is a brilliant man known
for his luminosity of mind and
unmatched imagination. He knows how
to extend this quota principle to
every sphere of national life
starting from nuptial nights to
holidays and tourist resorts to
seats in cinema houses to seats in
trains to rooms in hospitals. He
would then have replaced the vicious
circle of poverty by his
State-sponsored vicious circle of
Quota Raj. Only then can the country
become totally equal in every aspect
and dimension of nonsense of Quota
Raj. Only then can our Dr Abdul
Kalam be happily persuaded by
Manomhan Singh and secularly
directed by Sonia Gandhi to confer
the distinction of Bharat Ratna on
Arjun Singh at least by 26 January
2007. - Ajay Kumar - May 16, 2006 |
