I was amused to read that India had unilaterally decided to scale back it's 'natak' at the flag lowering ceremony at the Indo-Pak border. Pakistan, however, wants to go on with their 'natak'. It seems that they have built a large tourist attraction around their show of scorn. I guess now their tourism brochures will call it a, "See our one-sided display of scorn".

Maybe the Indian army should reconsider their whole stand on this. Yes, we must tone down the aggressive display, but after conclusion of their aggressive display of scorn, one ordinary guy should walk up an give them the finger!

Of course, I said that for mirth only. We must look at it rationally. Pakistanis profit economically from this display of hate. In short, they eat the fruits of hate. Fruits of hate make you stupid and insane. We all know that.

Comments:
The world will remain a very dangerous place till the huge arms manufacturing infrastructure set up in the cold war days is not demolished. The countries selling arms will continue to fuel discord and hate. There is a chain of highly influential people profiting from hate and conflict the world over.

The logic of creating market for arms by sowing and encouraging hatred is fine. The wise always profit when there are fools around who are ready to fight, at the cost of education, healthcare and infrastructure back home. However, it comes with a very large pre-assumption. That pre-assumption is made by the conflict designers when they plan conflicts on their drawing boards. They think they have complete knowledge of past, present and future and that they will always be in control of the situation. They think that they control the knob of the oven and they can twist it from high to sim or off positions at their will.

The designers of conflicts may consider themselves very intelligent and very much in control but do things always go as per plans? Were the outcome of Vietnam war, occupation of Afghanistan, the Iran-Iraq conflict, the more recent Afghanistan war, Iraq war, Kargil war etc, etc as per plans of their designers? Were the designers in control? In the world today, most countries, who are the major buyer of arms, sit with an arsenal of nuclear arms. How much room for error do we have? If a nuclear conflict starts will humanity survive? Will the designers of conflicts survive themselves?

The designers of conflicts are a fistful of people but they are the most immediate dangers to everyone on this planet. Summing up, huge arms manufacturing infrastructure set up in the cold war days is not demolished and replaced with industries and research facilities beneficial for mankind. The conflict-mongers must be isolated and their playing with fire must be stopped. History has shown that hardly any conflict has gone the way it was planned and now the stakes on all sides are higher than ever before. - Rajesh - Nov. 14, 2006
