Right
decision at right time always yields fruitful
results. I hail the decision taken by our chief
Minister “not to stage a mega star night
celebration on completion of his one year in the
office. This kind of action will certainly make
impact on our society.
His sincerity even expressed in words exhibits
the seriousness of the Government. This act will
send a very positive message in the world of
real investors including non-resident Biharis.
Whatever comes in his report card, Government
must identify a few cities and should be
smoothly connected with Patna as soon as
possible. In present world, cities are the face
of development. It is the duty of Government to
provide sense of security and pride in the hands
of Bihari people. Once Bihar shows positive
sign, Biharis will proudly call themselves
Biharis in the same way, calling Indian gives a
sense of splendor and refulgence abroad (Thanks
to Manmohanomics), and then several Bihari
product certainly could be marketed without much
inhibition and advertisement. Laloo's initiative
on Bihari “tarkari” fails to sale in Delhi
market, is mainly because of poor image of Bihar
and hence Bihari farmers.
We can reach a new height only, when Government
of Bihar and their keepers show maturity in
front of TV camera and the mikes of newsmen. Any
mistakes at top level will provide “biased
media” enough ammunition to raise and show only
non-issues like “Nitish Phuljhari”, “Laloo Bomb”
and “Rabri rocket”. All these activities make
our leaders and then our society laughable. This
should come to an end. Let us make our society
more than smart. If Government has no strategy,
then it is difficult to articulate an end point.

Very relevant article. Decision of
no mega show clearly shows
sincerity, maturity of the
government that it is still a very
long way to go. As far as
connectivity with Patna is
concerned, I observed while recently
in Bihar that the government is
working in that direction and roads
are building up at furious pace. It
is just matter of the time when all
Biharis will say with proud that
they are Biharis. - Anand

Dear Dr. Ranjan, well written
succinct comments. I agree with you
that uplifting 'Bihar Image' is
necessary to bring back the
productive aspects of 'Bihari
feeling'. Although outside Bihar
(either in India or abroad), we have
been constantly 'fighting' to
preserve our 'elite' image among
non-Biharis so far, we all wish to
preserve our 'energy' in fighting
other stuff necessary for our
motherland. Looking at the current
situation, I strongly feel that time
to pay back our motherland is not
far and it will be in terms of
financial/intellectual/physical/emotional
investment. I urge the non-resident
Biharis to take out some time to
identify and appreciate the changes
that have happened recently in Bihar
which will enable them to take
'informed decision' for possible
investment in their expertise. -
