It is undeniable that women are the chief architect of human civilization. As a mother, sister and wife, a woman has to play a significant role throughout her life. Despite their dedication and determination for the family and society they have to face the backlash from their male counterparts.

Millions of women on this planet have to face all kinds of atrocities, they have to live in conditions of abject deprivation of and attacks against their fundamental human rights for no other reason than that they are women.

The condition of women has been deteriorating in every part of the world rapidly. Now women are treated only as a thing of commodity to enjoy. That is why in recent times rape and other kinds of violence against women have gone up.

We talk about education and modern society. We have made leaps and bounds progress in all the sectors. It is really regrettable that the condition of women has worsened further. Who is responsible for this? Women are being forced to wear scanty dresses in many places. In clubs, discos, parties and big business deals the involvement of women is absolutely necessary.

Is it the sign of modernism or equality between two genders? It is neither modernism nor equality, modernism never allows men to use women and take undue advantages from them, and as far as equality is concerned, men never want to see the women on the same platform.

We live in a world in which women are not free. Millions of women and girls are forced to marry and have sex with men whom they do not want. Women cannot depend solely on the government to guard them from physical violence. Women are not safe anywhere, in policy custody and state custody they face sexual assaults by the policemen and jailors.

In spite of rapid spread of education, the case of dowry death is increasing day by day. Women’s modesty could be outraged anywhere. They are not safe even at their home. The question arises where will they go and live.

In leading newspapers almost everyday advertisements are given of 7 star and 5 star massage parlour. Girls from India and abroad will serve the customers. Massage parlours are nothing more than prostitution houses. In the name of massage parlours, flesh trade is in full swing.

The sex ratio is dipping in India. Notwithstanding the pre-natal test is prohibited by the government, illegal pre-natal tests have not stopped. Many clinics and doctors are involved in the racket with the help of corrupt policemen. Girls are being killed before coming in this world. The cases of feticides have not stopped rather it is getting momentum despite the government ban.

You can’t blame only parents for killing girls before their birth. The society is equally responsible for this crime. Poor parents always think how they can manage the long list of demand of dowry during the time of their daughters’ marriage.

In states like Haryana and Punjab, boys are purchasing girls from other states for marriages and three or four brothers live with one girl. The story of Mahabharata is being once again repeated, where five Pandava brothers had a common wife Draupadi.

We have entered in the 21st century; despite this, women have to suffer in the every walk of life. We need to take a concrete step to stop violence against women with immediate effect otherwise the situation would further deteriorate.
