Have
you noticed that whenever Indian tennis prodigy
Sania Mirza wins the first round of any match;
all Indian newspapers scream big headlines like
"SANIA STORMS INTO SECOND ROUND"?
By the same token, have you noticed that when
she loses her match in the second, third or
fourth round (if she is fortunate enough to
advance beyond the first round), the headlines
are something like this: SANIA CRASHES OUT OF
FRENCH OPEN IN SECOND ROUND"?
I don't get it! Why it always has to be 'storms
into' or 'crashes out'?
Why can't Indian newspapers be a little less
dramatic like "Sania advances into second
round", or "Sania loses to whoever in the second
round?"
I think these kinds of headlines put unnecessary
pressure on young players like Sania. Let her
bloom into a strong tennis player in next few
years. If she has the talent and is not blinded
by the media glitz, she would use her
experiences and mould herself in a way that the
entire country would be proud of her.

I am sure, she is not reading each
and every news headings after
STORMING in to next round or
CRASHING out. Since media helps
creating a almost GOD/GODDESS type
of personality of these sports
players therefore they should have
full right to drag them down to
earth.
Still Sania like players sneak out
with millions of rupees or may be
dollars. Anil Bhai, it's MahaMedia
age! :) - Naren Singh - Jan. 19,
