Of late India deservingly received the due commendation in diverse field for her incredible accomplishments. She has shown uninterrupted growth in the past few years, in almost every sector (Sociology, Technology, security and economy). The most vital evolution has been noticed in economy which makes it second largest growing economy in South East Asia. India’s paranormal success brings her the honor of leading the developing nations in the Doha round of talks in 2006. The magnificent overseas acquisitions by the Indian industrialists makes India cynosure in the world of business.

Though the Indian brain power has always been recognized all over the globe but in the last few years the world has accepted India’s excellence in economic course too. Steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal makes a prominent acquisition of Arccelar while the bid for similar acquirement of Anglo-Dutch steel maker Corus Group Plc. by TATA make India a key player of steel industry. TATA’s has raised its bid from $7.6 billion to above $10 billion and this is the biggest overseas acquisition that an India Inc. has ever deemed for.

Such splendid achievements make India the centre stage of world economy and results into around 1000 Foreign Institutional Investors coming to India only last year. India has also demonstrated brilliant business diplomacy with other nations in building stronger trade ties. India envisages above $40 billion bilateral trade with China and further bettered in many other countries like Japan, US, Russia Gulf etc. India has also been crowned as the largest software developer in the world and has got a brilliant over 9% growth in GDP which include a prominent over 13% growth in service sector, 24% growth in export and tremendous boom in ITES BPO while the manufacturing industry maintained the trend by score above 11% growth. This year more than 100 companies crossed $1`billion mid cap BSE market capital which is more than 50% of growth in one year. In 1990-91 P. V. Narsimha Rao the Prime Minister of India announces that “our coffers are empty” but today we have plenty of FDI and foreign exchange available. From a borrower now we have developed into a lender and we even don’t back out from helping the poorer nations. Such mystical improvement is bound to be praised.

A nation can not be called emerging or progressing until it has equipped the modern technology and obtained success concerning security of the nation. India knew this fact since beginning and struggled to achieve it. The substantial achievement in this realm could be found way back in 1996 when Prithvi was test fired and November 2006 brings India one more mileage ahead by launching two Prithvi ballistic missiles with one intercepting other in the air. India gets enlisted among elite countries savoring such advanced technology.

The most prolific achievement was advancement of satellite technology in India. India opened it success diary in July18, 1980 by launching SLV-3 with a capacity of carrying 38.5 kg. This rocketed India to become 6th nation to join the privileged space club. Soon India gets ability to develop Geosynchronous Satellite vehicle with a better capacity of 5,000 kg. And, continued moving ahead except one failure on 1993. The Indian space research organization is able to meet the various demands of the nation in remote sensing communications, metrology, television, tele communication, tele-education and several other scientific experiments. ISRO takes majestic success by injecting exceptionally four satellites into orbit through PSLV-C7 and will be joined by four or five more launches from Sriharikota. Of the four satellites, the ISRO’s Cartosat-2is for mapping purpose and its Space Capsule Recovery Experiment will be a precursor to the ISRO doing the re-entry, recoverable and re-usable launch vehicle technology. This will hugely reduce the operating cost. ISRO also envisions the launch of a communication satellite with a configuration of GSLV (MARK III) and 3.5 tonnes capacity at the end of this year. The development of communication satellite served a boon for improving standard of living in India. The major educational institutions including IGNOU, UGC, AICTE, started telecasting educational programs in 2005. This step helped grossly the enhancement of education and knowledge processes.

India has turned very keen in bringing even development in rural turf as well with this view the government has initiated many prolific programs which include employment guarantee scheme, Bharat Nirman Program and swarnjayanti gram swarozgar yojna – a Rs. 1200 crore program for the self employment of the rural mass and it also prioritizes the most deprived section of society. Such steps will not only entail better financial scene in the rural areas but also provides them the most eminent want of proper amenities such as drinking water, road communication, hospital, electricity etc. M. S Swaminathan Research Foundation and One World South Asia in Collaboration with Microsoft has planned a mission to create a network of Information Kiosks in 6,00,000 villages in India this year while 10,00 village knowledge centers and 5,000 e-chaupals are already functioning successfully. The new avtar of technology is seen in the form of e-policing which has been initiated in 1500 villages of Nagpur. The e-policing service will provide the citizen to connect online with police for speedy redressal of crime. I don’t give any spiel to accept India’s triumph but illustrate some of imperative facts which evidently make me assert that India is impeccably striving toward emerging superpower and the world has no other way but to acquiesce to it.

Comments:
A lot is happening in India. In very short time India has emerged from the obscure shadows at the back of the world stage to the limelight of international attention. However, one must realize that our political system still continues to be our weak point. Nothing has been done to fix the deficiencies of our Political system.

The rapid phase of Indian development began with Manmohan Singh and as long as Manmohan Singh's stable government continues, it will too. What if after Manmohan's era we go back to the infighting and coalition governments courtesy the largely uneducated and unenlightened gunda turned khaddardharis? It is one big reason which keeps international investors from freely investing in India. If political power transition goes smoothly time after time, then India will have reached a cruising speed on its way to development. I won't yet dance for joy because Lalus and Mulayams are lurking in the shadows eyeing the PM's chair. - Aarcee - Jan. 18, 2007

I would not compare Lalu with any other current socialist leader. As the world is truly amazed by Indian power same is the way how a Hindi speaking guy from Bharat and not India has implemented the most modern form of capitalism in Indian Railways. This is no longer a point of contention, it's proved already and now is being researched by the students.

Also I do not agree that it was just Manmohan Singh, but yes Narasimha Rao Guv did not have any other option left with the state of economics India was at that time. - Rajendra Pd. Singh - Jan. 18, 2007
