The
undergoing process of selection for two
positions: the next president of India, and the
coach of cricket team, must be in knowledge of
almost all Indians. The reasons are obvious.
Indians are politically very active and
knowledgeable too. So is the case with the
madness for cricket that engulfs almost all
Indians these days.
For many others and me, Kalam has been the best
president of whom every Indian can be proud. He
could have been given one more term. Left to
people at large, they will select him. There was
a drive to do that by netizens too. But in
constitution, it is by election and that too by
the people representatives belonging to
political parties. And those representatives
can't vote by their conscience, but as directed
by their parties.
Congress is selecting Shivraj Patil as its
candidate. It shows the bankruptcy and meanness.
The first citizen of the country must be as
great and respectable as the country itself. He
must be the best available. Does Congress wants
the people of the country to believe that there
can't be a better candidate than Shivraj Patil
for the post in Congress or in the country of
billion plus population? Perhaps, even ND Tiwari
would have been a better candidate. Why should
Congress restrict its choice to its loyal
members? Why can't Congress be broadminded and
select from among all the parties a right
candidate? Why can't it pick up I.K. Gujaral or
for that matter Manmohan Singh (Manmohan Singh
will be a better president than a prime
minister)? But why should the President be a
politician? Why can't it be some ex-Chief
Justice, Vice Chancellor, writer, poet,
professional CEO or social worker or even
artists such as Hussain or Satish Gujral, or
Rajnikant?
The selection of coach has been messed. Ford of
South Africa was given the job. After few days,
he expressed his inability to take up the task.
Perhaps, the remunerations were not attractive
enough or the challenge of the assignment was
real difficult. First of all I don't understand
why the coach must be a foreigner. After almost
hundred years in cricket, why can't the country
have an Indian coach? Is it because the players
listen to white skinned people better because of
our legacy of slavery?
Both the selections are raising some questions
that the nation must answer. And if it can't
find a respectable way of selecting the right
person for the positions, the dream of a
developed nation is just a nightmare.

I will not waste my time by writing
about the selection drama for a 'FOREN'
coach unfolded by bunch of BCCI
jokers. In fact, the Indian cricket
team/management in whole is nowhere
different than the Indian political
parties and the politicians. They
both are big suckers of Indian
resources.
But I certainly regret about the way
the selfish drama of jerk Indian
political parties are playing for
the election of next President of
India. There is no doubt that Dr
Kalam is one of the best Presidents
India ever had after Dr. Rajendra
Prasad. Now he will have to go
because it was he, who made Sonia
Gandhi decide not to grab the Prime
Minister position of India. He is a
'Dream' breaker, isn't he? Now, the
Congress Party and it's 'Bhagora'
supporter parties like RJD and the
so called socialist parties of
Bengal/Kerala will do their best to
get Dr. Kalam out. There is nothing
surprising in here. On top of that,
the Congress party has one more
'MAYA ki WATI' feather in its cap
then who could stop Sonia Amma to
dump a rubber stamp President on to
billion+ Indians. Playing 'CHUMCHAA
RAJ' is one of the favorite games of
Congress.
As far as the other political force
of India like the NDA is concern,
they are nothing but 'DHER JOGI MUTH
UJJAR' party.
There is still plenty of time left
and I wish every political parties
of India gets on to a rare but
possible consensus to keep Dr. Kalam
as the President of India for at
least one more term. - Naren

It seems to be just like "khisiyani
billi khambha noche" for the oldest
and freedom fighting party "The
Congress Party of India". This party
has lost its ground to the common
voters. The party is really
struggling for its glory. Only
because the think tank of this party
is currently sick-minded. The party
get hopeless soon after the U.P
elections. So now the party
is trying to overcome from the
political loss almost all over
country. Congress has no guts to say
that "this is our party's best
candidate for the president of
India." The party is just trying to
be in the middle of this election by
(trying to) co-ordinate with another
strong parties like BSP and many
more.
When Mr. Kalam was to be elected Mr.
Vajpayee jee was in the condition to
announce a consensus candidate. So
this is a game of political power of
all parties but not the question of
selecting a royal candidate for this
royal post of India. - Saroj Ray
