Our
state Bihar is infamous for its
criminal-turned-politician. Recently, much has
been spoken and written about Shahabuddin, Sunil
Pandey etc. Challenging them is another criminal
turned politician Anant Singh of JD (U). Anant
Kumar Singh popularly called as “Chote Sarkar”
by his supporter is MLA from Mokama. He is a
lawmaker and also, according to police records,
a lawbreaker. Tall, well built, grand moustache,
military boots and always surrounded by
gun-toting followers are Chote Sarkar
trademarks. Moreover, he is fond of weapons as
well as wildlife. His criminal history dates
back to the early 1980s, but he came into
limelight in the last five years. Much has been
told about the king pin regarding the beating of
journalist and rape and murder of a woman. This
article is an attempt to bring into notice of
the people of Bihar of some old “Katha of Chote
Sarkar”.
Shootout during Railway Tender in 2003: During a
railway tender at Mahendru Ghat, an encounter
took place between the supporters of Suraj Bhan
Singh and MLA Anant Singh. Almost six people
were allegedly injured in the shootout. However,
a local court granted him anticipatory bail in
this case.
Special Task Force Raid in 2004: When Special
Task Force (STF) personnel raided his ancestral
village Nadma in April 2004, nine people were
killed including one STF personnel, in the gun
battle (encounter). Chote Sarkar received seven
bullets but escaped miraculously. The raid
revealed an arsenal of AK 47s and SLRs and a
tunnel dug around Singh’s residence perimeter.
The tunnel was built for the purpose of
Guerrilla warfare.
32-cottah plot at Fraser Road: The 32-cottah
plot on the posh Fraser Road at Patna houses
several shops and showrooms of them of popular
brands. Almost every trader were asked to vacate
the plot at the earliest as muscle men working
for the Mokama kingpin claimed that he had
bought it. Anant Singh’s henchmen had been
telling the traders that the MLA had bought and
registered 16 cottahs of the plot, and had
entered into an agreement with the “rightful
owners” for the rest. The disputed Fraser Road
plot originally belonged to Mehdi Hasan Imam,
who died without an issue. His wife also died
some years ago. The JD(U) MLA’s supporter
claimed that the Imam family had “gifted” the
land to their servants and that they, in turn,
had sold it to the MLA (Anant Singh). These
claims, when one examines the documents in the
traders’ possession, look bogus. Chief Minister
Nitish Kumar ordered the registration of an FIR
against Janata Dal (U) MLA Anant Singh during
his weekly junta durbar. The police immediately
registered an FIR against the MLA whose henchmen
had been trying to forcibly occupy plot at
Fraser road by threatening the occupants with
eviction.
CD Scandal: Recently a CD circulating in capital
shows Chote Sarkar dancing and brandishing an
AK-47 rifle with other illegal weapons during
New Year celebration in 2004. He handed over the
assault rifle to one of his supporter, who fired
in air to welcome the New Year on January 1
2004. The CD, aired by few television news
channels, was a real-life reproduction of the
popular Bollywood song “main to aayee hoon
UP-Bihar lootne”. One must note that only the
army and the police are allowed to possess the
weapons that Singh was shown brandishing.
Python- a new pet: A few time back Chote Sarkar
was proudly displaying his new "pet" -- a python
-- before a section of the electronic media.
Coiled up in a glass case, the python was in the
frame on some TV channels with the MLA once
lifting it to put around his neck. Some forest
official reached the MLA's official residence
but returned empty-handed. Anant told them, "A
snake charmer had come with a python. He was
demanding Rs 1,200 for it and I was ready to pay
only Rs 400. The deal could not be struck." Even
as the forest officials were talking to the MLA,
some mediamen were watching the python drinking
milk from a bowl in the glass case in one of the
rooms in the MLA's flat.
Mind you, keeping a python is against the forest
rules and can invite one to seven years of
imprisonment.
Mercedes Benz at Residence: He was recently in
the news when a Mercedes Benz was spotted at his
official residence. Chote Sarkar extorted
Mercedes car from a contractor of NTPC for
allowing the company to work in Bihar. However,
Chote Sarkar claimed some company officials had
kept the car in his garage. It was reported in
the media but no action was taken.
Sealing of Food grain Godowns: As the
sub-divisional officer (SDO) of Barh, Bandana
Preyashi, IAS bites were felt by none other than
criminal turned-ruling Janata Dal (U) MLA Anant
Singh aka ‘Chhote Sarkar’ the MLA from Mokama.
To the much surprise one fine morning Chote
Sarkar found all his foodgrain godowns sealed by
the young SDO after the state government ordered
all the godowns in the state to be shifted to
bazaar samitis.
Riding Rudal: Anant Singh bought RJD supremo
Lalu Prasad's once prized possession, Pawan, the
horse which is said to respond to 'English'
commands. The four-year-old horse was on display
at Asia's biggest cattle fair, Sonepur Mela. One
fine morning it changed hands twice in just few
hours. First, one Baleshwar Rai purchased it
from Lalu's men for Rs 1.01 lakh in the morning
After a few hours, Rai sold it to Anant Singh
for Rs 1.11 lakh. Anant, who is fond of riding
horses, finally lay his hands on Pawan. The
first thing he did after purchasing the horse
was to change its name to Rudal.
These are some of the old stories of Anant Singh
aka Chote Sarkar MLA from Mokama, Bihar. As per
now, he is in Patna Beur Jail in judicial
custody till 13th November and a bail has been
requested in the court. The time will only tell
what is going to happen with criminal turned
politicians like Anant Kumar Singh. We the
people believe in Truth Alone Triumphs. Comments
are welcome.

This
guy is a total menace to the society
and lacks even basic sense of
humanity. I hope he rots in jail for
everything he has done. So do other
criminal-turned-politicians like
him. Election is supposed to be the
time when people should speak
against criminals like Anant Singh
but lo and behold, they are made
MLAs. Don't the people even have
common sense or have they become so
blind that they just can't see
beyond the caste of these criminals?

Much has been written over the last
few days regarding the "Chhote
Sarkar".
My question to the current bona
fide/Real Sarkar of Bihar (duly
elected by the people of Bihar,
regardless of their caste and creed)
is as follows:
At what point is the "Real Sarkar"
going to initiate and complete legal
actions in accordance with the
statutes in the Indian Penal Code
for the so called legislators?
It is quite transparent that the
major mission in life for the these
feudal lords turned politicians is
to acquire enormous amount of wealth
by exploiting their political
connections and by repeatedly
violating the laws of the land with
near absolute impunity. Perhaps it
is they consider the state of Bihar
to be their own fiefdom and in their
own idiosyncratic thinking consider
that these laws do not apply to
them.
The laws of the land must be applied
in the real sense and not merely be
used as a tool to grant bails to the
rich and the powerful mafia that is
ruling Bihar by proxy for as far as
one could recollect.
So here is the appeal to the current
bona fide Sarkar of Bihar-please do
what needs to be done and let
Justice determine the course of
events in a timely manner. - Ahir
Bhairabi - Nov. 6, 2007
Thanks for your real "brave" effort
for providing us lots of information
about one "chote Sarkar number 1":
Anant Singh of Mokama from JD(U).
As you have rightly pointed out that
there are other "chote sarkars
number 1" such as Shahabuddin, Pappu
Yadav of RJD, Surajbhan Singh of
LJP... is there any end in the list?
There are 'n' numbers of Chote
sarkars number 2, 3 and 4 who made
Bihar a place of hell to live. Here
is one such experience of chote
sarkar number 4:
One day my friends and I were
standing in front of Officers' flat
on Bailey road, Patna in 1997.
Although cigarette is injurious to
health, but one of my friends was
smoking. Suddenly a Kawasaki
motorcycle stopped in front of us
and asked my friend to serve him a
fag. He politely refused saying that
he doesn't have another cigarette.
The guy riding motorcycle at the
front seat then ordered my friend to
handover the one he was smoking.
Failing which what I saw was the
darkest moment of my life, my
friend's head was on pointed blank.
The power of Gun forced him to
handover the cigarette. At the same
time, the power of gun compelled him
to study single mindedly (without
any interest) to join civil services
so that he and his family could
leave peacefully in Patna and move
around Bihar. This is one the
reasons why do we Biharis love civil
services and do not want to
understand the real meaning and
quality, in general, of other types
of job, neither "Chote Sarkar" or
nor "Bade Sarkar"
By the way, what about "Bade Sarkar"
who are in these days seen busy
launching their loved ones from
Bollywood to Cricket world leaving
common Biharis at the mercy of their
"chote sarkars"?
Unless we understand the motives of
being ruled by the present "Bade
Sarkar" instead of "Chote Sarkar";
Gen-Next in Bihar will keep writing
other "Ananta Katha". - Dr.
Sudhir Ranjan, USA - Nov. 6, 2007
Thanks for your brave effort in
providing information about the
so-called Chhote Sarkar. But I would
also like to put some questions to
the so-called "Elite or Educated"
persons. Who are responsible for
this situation? Bihar is not a
single unit which can be cured of
present paralysis. It is made up of
7-8 crore people. Are we honest
(including myself) enough to point
finger at Anant Singh, Shahabuddin
etc. Yes relatively he is a bigger
criminal than us. You must be
knowing some engineer, doctors,
govt. employees etc. who have crores
of illegally earned money and
smartly converted into white money.
Moreover they are the persons who
have got their basic needs, good
education etc. But the persons whom
we are pointing fingers may not be
properly educated, may not be having
basic need fulfilled when they
choose gun before good ethics. Who
is bigger criminal - these persons
or us (I would not feel hurt if I be
included). Unless we would start
good things from our home, miracle
would not happen. So many criminals
have been killed by police, gang
wars, but people are not afraid of
being criminals. I am a Hindu,
Hinduism says "soul never dies". We
can kill bodies but not the soul, we
can purify it, BUT we have to start
from ourselves only. We BIHARI can
do this, Buddha, Mahavir, Guru
Govind Singh etc have done it, so
can we. DO NOT DREAM OF GOOD BIHAR,
DO SOMETHING FOR IT. Not one person
like Mr. Nitish or Mr. Someone else
can do this, we all have to make an
effort. After all it is our
sweetheart Bihar.
DO NOT CHOOSE PATH OF CONVENIENCE (casteism,
corruption, blame game etc.) but
choose the path of courage. (After
all life is ours, we must do
something to make our soul happy. We
can do this. Forget about past, if
you are too fascinated about past
just remember it to learn from
mistakes) - Kumar Rajesh - Nov.
