There is
need of strong organisation of the Kayastha
community and Patna should be made hub of it.
This communality starting from the kingdom of
Akbar to the present made a significant
contribution in the development of society by
its administrative capabilities. 35 years
earlier a society was started by Late K. N.
Sahay at state level. It grew up to country
level but it could not catch momentum after
certain period of time due to infiltration of
selfish people like his son. Previously selfless
persons with dignity were making all efforts to
make this organisation a success. Every five
years politicians counted heads of this
community merely to get sympathy votes.
Chitrgupta Samaj library that is still
languishing in Chitkohra needs to develop its
infrastructure so that poor student with high
marks may be awarded scholarship, a documentary
film of its origin and future planning should be
exhibited from time to time. This library can be
a strong base of community development provided
it is handled carefully. The purpose also should
be to cooperate in good governance and to
suggest criteria of improvement. This way this
community can obtain its lost glory. I appeal to
film stars, politicians, doctors, professors,
voluntary organisations, motivators to help in
the development of this organisation under
strict framework of the constitution.

I wish
and hope that such caste based
organizations disappeared. A
humanistic secular organization is
most desirable however, even a Hindu
umbrella will work better than
Kayastha samaj, Bhumihar samaj etc.
If we are to realize our potential
as human beings, the caste barriers
must disappear. Yes this means
gradual loss of caste based
identity. Unfortunately both GOI
imposed quotas
as well as social customs serve to
maintain the divisions within which
we continue to live. Maintaining
such caste based societies does not
help matters either.
Unfortunately, this is not just a
Bihar thing. Here in North America -
several such societies exist -
HAVYAKA ASSOCIATION of AMERICA - An
association of Brahmins from
Northern Karnataka, Maheshwari
Mahasabha of North America - for
Marwaris and so on. - Sanjay

I
am very much pained by publishing
caste based news in your daily. I
also belong to same Kayastha
community but I strongly believe,
you should not focus on these
issues. We should not work on caste
line. Even I saw the article on same
topic, I couldn't understand why ?
Please understand this. Your e-daily
is gaining popularity not because of
Kayastha community but only because
of good quality of news coverage.
Please don't become biased. This is
my personal humble request to you. -

Editor's Note (Apr. 24, 2008):
It is somewhat ironical that when we
print news of Brahmashree Samaj meet
in Patna or cover events related to
Vaishya Mahasabha at Gandhi Maidan,
there is no protest by our readers.
Go figure!
"Birds of same feather flock
together" is very famous saying. So
if take into consideration the above
saying it is nothing wrong in taking
pride in what you are and the
culture you have. Celebrating Holi
or Diwali does not make you a
extreme Hindu not congregation like
Hindu mahasabha or similar
gatherings makes you casteist or
racist. But, if you discriminate
people based on caste or race and
alienate them that becomes an
entirely a different issue.
So, people should have a broader
outlook and should not be very
critical of 'birds of same feather
getting together' and celebrating
their common culture as long as it
does not hurt others. - Archana Arun
