To Heck with the Thackerays

Would someone please tell me who died in India and made the Thackerays the rulers of Maharashtra? As far as I am concerned, people like them or those who support them, can go to hell for all I care! Mumbai or Bihar kisi ke baap ka property nahin hai and someone needs to hammer this concept into their heads with a 200-pound sledgehammer.

Secondly, all those Maharashtrians who even slightly agree with the two 'Monsters from Maharashtra' MUST return to Maharashtra no matter where they live now or what they do for a living. That means Marathis in US, UK, Singapore, Kolkata, and yes, even in Patna - you all need to pack your stuff and go back to what you consider your 'bapauti'. No excuses please.

I can imagine an American saying - "%#@%$ these Maharashtrians, they come from a &%@!%ing country like India and steal our !&#$&ing jobs. And they even have the audacity to celebrate Diwali and Dussehra in New Jersey. Keep your !@#$#&ing Ganesh Puja in Maharashtra - the hell hole that you call your home! America is for Americans only. No Diwali, no Holi, no Ganesh Chaturthi allowed here. Either celebrate my Christmas or get the &%$# out of here. Don't pollute my country or my culture, you dirty ragheads."

Get the picture you neo-Nazis, er, you the so-called kings of Mumbai? Probably not because, let's face it - you, and other Thackeray lemmings, are too dumb and too ignorant to understand reasoning or logic. You are nothing but a two-bit gunda, no different than the petty gundas on the streets of Bihar, who only understand the language of joota-chappal or lathi-danda. Sanity doesn't run in your blood and reasoning is not your strong forte!

For all those who have been blaming Bihar's poor economic condition for Bihari's decision to migrate to large metros. Let me ask you this: why do people from the so-called 'prosperous' cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad go to America, England etc looking for jobs? Is it because they had nothing in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, or Ahmedabad (just like Biharis don't have anything in their state) and are looking for a better life elsewhere OR could it be that the human beings are simply a daring and adventurous animal and their innate desire to constantly progress and relocate goes as far back as the cavemen days? Well, what is it?

So screw that logic that Bihar is backward and that's why people of Bihar are migrating to other states. That may be partially true but that's exactly the same reason why the Mumbaikars and Delhi'ites and Bangalorians are rushing to US and UK embassies to get their US, UK visas. Bottom-line is Indians are free and the last time I checked, India was still a free nation, so if one wishes to live in Mumbai or Mokama, that's his or her prerogative. Plain and simple. All other justification is lunacy!

Many of you well-intended though misguided Biharis have attributed Bihari bashing to the state's economic backwardness. I couldn't disagree more. Economic backwardness is a totally separate issue and must not be mixed with the migration issue. People have been migrating from ages. One living in Jhanjharpur desires to move to Patna, those living in Patna wish to find jobs in Mumbai or Delhi, and those who are in Mumbai or Delhi are dying to come to the US, UK. No one was complaining before so what happened in India that gave so much power or credence to the two bit gundas like the Thackerays?

If I sound angry, that's because I am. I am tired of Thackeray apologists within our own community who justify their arguments by hiding behind the garb of Bihar's backwardness. And before you condemn me for my acerbic, harsh comments - just answer one question - why do people from Delhi, Mumbai, etc go to USA, UK and other foreign countries?

Furthermore, the argument that 'we don't dislike Biharis, we just hate their politicians and their attempt to impose Bihari ways on us' is not going to fly either. You folks migrating to US, UK, Dubai etc first quit celebrating Diwali, Dussehra, Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi in the land of Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed and Biharis would stop observing Chhath in Maharashtra.

P.S. - I apologize for using some obscene words but feel they were necessary to make my point.

Comments:
Hi Brother,

I can understand your anger and I don't see anything wrong with it. Even I was feeling the same when they started cruelty on Biharis and passing those comments.

Yes, I had come across many Maharashtrians and as Raj was telling they adopt the culture of the place they live but its not at all true. They still celebrate Gudi Padva/Ganesh puja etc and they are also attached to Maharashtra but no one saying against them because every human has right to believe in there culture and live as they like. They are very adamant, even if they are wrong they don't agree. I hate this attitude of those guys. I was even feeling to eliminate these gundas forever but this is not the solution, we have to be constructive and take this as challenge and develop our Bihar so that this Maharashtrians must beg us for jobs. Take this as an opportunity to come together and work for our Motherland and for its glory. We Biharis never hurt anyone else sentiments and ones someone hurts us we never spare them. Dear friend use your anger for constructive Bihar. My attitude is take positive out of any incident in life and learn from negatives, so that you don't repeat it again. - Ajay Kumar Patel - Mar. 9, 2008

Mr. Chandra, hats off to your comments. I couldn't agree with you more. - Niraj Ashutosh, MD, Detroit, MI, USA - Mar. 9, 2008

Finally someone had the guts to say the way it is. Kudos to Mr. Prasad. Thackerays are exactly what Mr. Prasad describes them as. Such people are the enemies of the nation and must be treated as such. - Anil Kumar - Mar. 9, 2008

Completely agree with the writer. Bal and Raj Thackeray are 'desh-drohis' and should be taken out of India's political scenario without delay.

I am surprised by the kind of statements given by Shatrughan Sinha, Manoj Bajpai, and Manoj Tiwari who in some way or other have supported the Thackerays in the past. But on the other hand, I don't really blame them since they have to swim with the sharks in Mumbai and one doesn't want to make sharks their enemies. Cowardly? Sure, but what do you do when the Thackerays' thugs knock on your door and demand 'hafta' in exchange of providing protection to you and your family? Just because one comes up with a high-sounding 'Sanskritized' name like Maharashtra Navnirman Sena or Shiv Sena does not make it any legitimate. A criminal gang will always be a criminal gang and a gunda will always be a gunda - party name notwithstanding.

I believe that whenever a Ravan is born, a Ram and a Hanuman is also born. It's just a matter of time before the Thackerays' 'Sonay ki Lanka will be burnt to ashes. - Ashok Agrawal, USA - Mar. 9, 2008

Very well said Mr. Chandra Mohan Prasad. Your strong words are nothing compared to what the Thackerays are doing. Biharis need not look down upon themselves just at the drop of a hat.

If Biharis are able to survive in all parts of India and abroad despite a hostile environment, it only proves their grit, their hardiness & talent. People of all states are living in other states, other countries and they are making their living and pursuing their religion and culture. Except for a few festivals, people of Bihar do not have a separate religion from those from the Maharashtrians. Most Marathis speak Hindi very well. Then why this halla??

Whole of India, Central Govt and State Govts are expecting NRIs to invest money in India and donate to charities there. Then what is wrong if Amitabh Bachchan does some charitable work in UP?? Maharashtra has already benefitted for years not only from earnings from his films but also from Income taxes paid and earnings spent by whole of his family. How many jobs and how much wealth have been created in Maharashtra by Bihari and North Indian personalities in Bollywood and other institutions of Maharashtra, can anyone imagine? - Mithilesh Kumar, Delmar, NY, USA - Mar. 9, 2008
