It is good to see that someone has
really good feeling about his/her
birth place. Otherwise it is fashion
of abusing/using in wrong sense his
birth place. This is a good start.
Because it is my experience in last
15 years that people say all good
things about his state, but in real
it turns out to be a big FOUL, and
simply imaginative talk. It holds
good for almost all the so-called
developed places of India. Bihar may
be backward in terms of
industrialization, but it is never
on lower side in terms of intellect
power, and social chemistry. All the
so-called developed parts are fulll
of cheating cases - suicide cases.
It is good to see that there is
someone, let it be few, who has good
feeling about his home state. -
Anup Kumar, Bangalore - Sept. 19,

Nitish Kumar ji has done a wonderful
job. A state which was virtually
written off and considered
incorrigible by the rest of India
has bounced back. Hope and
confidence can be seen once again in
the eyes of all Biharis. We have
witnessed the impossible happening.
Another term in office for Nitishji
and Bihar will certainly become a
much better place. Nitishji please
keep going ahead full steam we are
all with you. However, please pull
up people who are responsible for
the misery of so many poor people
affected by floods and warn other
Government Departments to take
timely preventive actions and nip
the cause of suffering of people in
the bud. Prevention any day is
better than cure. - Rajesh -

Yes, I too agree that even a
slightest mistake on the part of the
leadership could lead to darkness.
Not to name anyone but prior to
Nitish there was hardly any
governance in Bihar. I take a lot of
pride in our heritage and culture
but then there is lot to be done and
it really requires tremendous amount
of political will.
I see Nitish bringing the much
needed turnaround and we need to
provide our unrelenting support. -

A very precise presentation that
says it all! Bihar has always
exemplified to the nation and world.
In fact, I remember in early 60s
during the golden period of Sri
Babu-Anugrah Babu regimes, Bihar was
highly respected for governance,
infrastructure, and agriculture.
Even before the IITs; Bihar had a
state of the art technical institute
of global repute in BIT Mesra and
BIT Sindri, Magadh University, one
of largest universities in Asia.
Even today under the able and
inspiring leadership of Nitish Kumar
Bihar is looking to regain the glory
it is worthy of. The people of Bihar
pay their gratitude to the makers of
modern Bihar Rajendra Prasad, Sri
Krishna Sinha, Anugrah Babu, JP and
take a vow to put Bihar not on
national but international map! -
B. Singh - Sept. 27, 2008
I may share my opinion with Mr A.
Kumar. Unfortunately no one is
pointing out what exact improvements
are achieved in Bihar? No concrete
examples of achievements are cited.
Bihar is rich in human intellect and
hard working people but still
considered to be the most backward
state of India. People are running
away from Bihar to seek employment.
I do not know who considered Bihar
as the best administered State?
Do we ask ourselves the reasons why
Biharis for running away from
Bihar??
We must be open and honest in our
diagnosis of this state. It is no
good saying that the patient is in
good condition but still under
intensive care.
As a Bihari, we have got to be
honest in judging the economical,
social conditions of this state.
Success of this state can not be
achieved by CM alone. All the
citizen must feel responsible and do
his/her share of duty without which
no real achievement is possible.
Criticism must be allowed from those
who have the heart to help. -
Khursheed Jamil - Sept. 27, 2008
Bihar has indeed been exemplary for
the entire nation! A state endowed
with immense intellectual potential;
Bihar has given India some of the
towering nationalists in the
Pre-Independence period.
Brajkishore Prasad, Dr. Rajendra
Prasad, Dr. Sachhidanand Sinha, Dr.
Sri Krishna Singh, Dr. Anugrah
Narain Sinha and others whose life
are an integral part of our
country's and state's rich history.
For the younger generation who was
brought up in the 'eventful' two
decades of 1988-2008;there may not
be much to accept or cherish, but as
among the very few surviving members
of the first decade of post
independence Bihar 1946-1956,yes it
was a time when a commoner felt that
there was a betterment in life,
there were opportunities for him,
there was total governance and rule
of the law, there were those
valuable Gandhian principles. Snd
people felt being a Bihari was not
considered strange all over country;
it was considered very special!
And for those interested in looking
at the most authentic contemporary
information available; the Planning
Commission of India's detailed
report of the first five year plan
is itself exemplary! Late Mr. T P
Singh (Senior ICS) and then India's
Finance Secretary has also presented
a very concrete report on the
economic front in Bihar and about
governance, that can also be very
relevant for a research scholar who
is interested in knowing all! -
Bhanu Narayan - Sept. 29, 2008
It's good to read this article but
in my opinion the government must
ensure the development opportunity
in the field of infrastructure, IT,
and agriculture. The state
government must develop agricultural
and agro-based industries. Most of
the agro-related nodal agencies (APIDA,
National Seed Corp., Ministry of
Food Processing are either defunct
in the state or not working at an
optimum level. This is hampering the
overall flow of information and
resources to the people working at
the grassroots level. The entire
network needs to be streamlined. -
